Although Thembi Kgatlana does not have a boyfriend, she does have the support of her long-time girlfriend-turned-wife Abongile Dlani.

Abongile, a soccer fanatic, played college soccer alongside Thembi, as they both attended the same university.

The two dated for a long-time before finally exchanging vows in 2022. From soccer buddies to becoming life-long partners, they have come far.

Thembi Kgatlana is a forward for the South Africa women’s national team and the NWSL club, Racing Louisville FC.

The soccer player signed her first professional contract in 2018, debuting with Houston Dash. Since then, she has represented other big soccer clubs, including Beijing BG Phoenix, SL Benfica, and Eibar.

While at Benfica, she assisted the team in reaching the Portuguese Cup and Tacada Liga finals and finishing first in the league’s standings.

Prior to joining her current team Racing Louisville, she also played for Atletico Madrid and made 25 appearances.

Additionally, Thembi has also represented the South African women’s national team at the 2018 African Women’s Cup of National and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Who Is Thembi Kgatlana Boyfriend?

Open about her relationship and sexuality, Thembi Kgatlana does not have a boyfriend but a wife. 

On November 13, 2022, Thembi Kgatlana shared some wholesome wedding snaps alongside her partner, Abongile Dlani.

The caption on the post read, “She that finds a wife is blessed! 🙏😍,” which suggests that the couple have tied the knot. 

However, some confusion remains among fans as the couple has not yet talked openly about their marriage.

Like Thembi, her partner, Abongile, is a soccer freak. They grew close while studying at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and bonded even more over their shared love for soccer.

Thembi hasn’t revealed many specifics about her better half. Although, a glance at her Instagram indicates how much she adores Abongile and how enamored they are.

Born on March 28, 1994, Abongile played as a forward during her collegiate soccer. However, not many details are available regarding her professional soccer career.

Regarding her education, she graduated from UWC in 2022. Thembi even posted a photo congratulating her and stating how proud she is of her success.

Moreover, they raise a son, Aphiwe Thandolwethu Dlani (b. July 24, 2015), and often share adorable pictures of him on their respective Instagram handles.

Thembi Kgatlana Injuries

While playing competitive sports, it is common for injuries to occur. Likewise, Thembi Kgatlana has endured several injuries throughout her soccer career. 

On October 31, 2020, in a match against Espanyol, she suffered a minor undisclosed injury and had to leave the game midway.

Moreover, she sustained a torn Achilles tendon in a match against Botswana in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Due to the injury, she was placed on an injury list, missing the entire 2022 season.

Likewise, the player has suffered other undisclosed injuries, forcing her out of several professional games. 

Despite the injuries, the athlete still plays strong and gives the best in every championship.
