Early Years 

Troy joined the Charlotte Bobcats for the 2013 NBA Summer League after going undrafted in the 2013 NBA draft.

He signed with the Bobcats on September 30; however, he was later released on October 10.

Following that, he signed with the Houston Rockets on October 18. However, Houston also released him on October 26. 

As an affiliate player of the Rockets, he was then acquired by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League in November 2013.

Troy scored 32 points and nailed ten three-pointers against the Idaho Stampede on January 4, 2014.

Likewise, he also shattered the D- League’s single-season three-pointer record halfway through his debut season with the Vipers. 

Even though Daniels signed with the Houston Rockets on February 21, 2014, but was promptly sent back to the Vipers.

The Rockets recalled him on March 3, and he made his NBA debut two days later, playing 92 seconds against the Orlando Magic.

The player was later sent to the Vipers again. He notched 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in 50 games with the Vipers in 2013–14.

Troy made the game-winning three-point jumper with 11.0 seconds remaining in overtime against the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 3 of their 2014 NBA Playoffs first-round matchup, which the Rockets won 121–116.

He had 17 points at the end of the game, but the Rockets went on to lose the series 4–2. Then, Troy re-signed with the Rockets on July 14, 2014.

The player was not stable with a single team in his basketball career. He was then acquired by the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 19, 2014, as part of a three-team transaction that included the Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rising To Glory 

Troy was traded to the Charlotte Hornets on February 10, 2015, with Mo Williams and monetary considerations, for Gary Neal and a 2019 second-round draft selection. 

He scored a then-career-high 24 points in the Hornets’ final game of the season, a defeat to the Toronto Raptors, on April 15. 

Likewise, Daniels joined the Hornets for the 2015 NBA Summer League on June 30, 2015.

He scored 17 points in a 120–116 overtime win over the Orlando Magic on January 22, 2016.

Troy set a career-best three days later with 28 points off the bench in a 129–128 double-overtime victory over the Sacramento Kings.

He was acquired by the Memphis Grizzlies in a sign-and-trade transaction with the Charlotte Hornets on July 12, 2016. 

On December 3, 2016, Daniels set a career-best with 31 points in a 103–100 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

He scored seven three-pointers and ended with a game-high 29 points two days later in a 110–108 double-overtime triumph over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Lakers released Daniels on March 1, 2020. The Lakers eventually won the NBA Finals in 2020 and sent him an NBA championship ring.

On July 12, 2021, he relocated to Europe after signing a one-year contract with the Italian team Olimpia Milano, coached by Ettore Messina.
