Tyler Lydon | NBA Draft and Career

After 2 years at Syracuse University, Tyler Lydon was drafted by Utah Jazz as the round 1 24th overall pick.

The same night of the draft, the NBA team Jazz traded him to Denver Nuggets in exchange for Donovan Mitchell.

Despite being a player with potential, Lydon faced difficulty coordinating the rotation. As a result, the Nuggets assigned him to the NBA G League team Rio Grande Valley Vipers on October 23, 2017, during his rookie year.

During the 2017-18 NBA season, he had made only 1 game appearance with the Nuggets & played for only 2 minutes.

On November 8, 2018, he was recalled to the roster of the Denver Nuggets and appeared in 25 games throughout the 2018-19 season alongside players such as Will Barton, Juan Hernangomez, Gary Harris, Nikola Jokic, and Jarred Vanderbilt.

However, the torn meniscus left him out for the rest of the season, averaging 0.9 points and 0.7 rebounds. Later, Tyler was loaned out to Capital City Go-Go on March 3, 2019.

Due to his degrading performance caused by injury, the Nuggets turned down the third-year option leaving Lydon as a free agent in the 2019–20 season.

It singed By Sacramento Kings But Waived After A Season

Sacramento Kings, one of the major NBA teams, showed interest in Lydon and signed him as a then-free agent on July 17, 2019, on a 2-year contract.

It was indeed a dream come the actual moment, as he was set to play in the team led by young talents like De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield and veteran figures Trevor Ariza, Nemanja Bjelica, and Harrison Barnes.

But sometimes life tests you real hard, as Tyler’s time in recovery took a toll on his career. He appeared in the only game of the Kings’ preseason games; he made 8 minutes in a game against Indiana Pacers in Mumbai.

Furthermore, his hip injury lost him a chance to appear in the preseason finale.

On October 21, 2019, the Kings waived him off & filled the roster space with Orlando Magic’s off-waiver DaQuan Jeffries.
