Amin Noroozi’s parents filed a lawsuit alleging that the hospital’s negligent care stole their son’s opportunity to heal and continue his life.

Amin Noroozi was a beloved 17-year-old student-athlete at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California.

He was known for his leadership as a varsity football player, wrestler, and track athlete.

On April 13, 2025, Amin Noroozi, a 17-year-old athlete from Acalanes High School, dove into shallow water at Stinson Beach and hit a sandbar, breaking his neck.

He was pulled from the waves, unable to move, and was rushed to John Muir Medical Center, where doctors performed emergency spinal surgery.

At first, there was hope; he could move a finger and feel touch, but his condition worsened over the next few days.

The GoFundMe campaign for Amin Noroozi, titled For Amin, For Love – Supporting the Noroozi Family Together,” was launched shortly after his tragic accident.

The main aim of this fundraiser was to support his family during a medical crisis by helping cover the rising costs of his emergency care, hospital stay, and recovery needs.

Despite all the efforts from family and the community and his strength, Amin died from complications just four days after arriving at the medical center.

His family now believes hospital negligence played a role. Therefore, they’ve filed a lawsuit, saying his death could have been prevented.

The Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed by Amin Noroozi’s Parents Against John Muir Medical Center Is Active and Ongoing In Contra Costa County Superior Court!

Amin Noroozi’s parents, Payman and Ofelia Noroozi, are heartbroken and seeking justice after their son’s tragic death.

In recent days, they’ve filed a wrongful death lawsuit against John Muir Medical Center.

They claimed the hospital’s care was negligent and that Amin’s death was preventable.

Amin Noroozi’s mother, Ofelia, expressed deep disappointment and heartbreak over the hospital’s handling of her son’s care.

She said:

We were very hopeful. Everything seemed pretty OK, like they knew what they were doing.

The lawsuit filed by Amin Noroozi’s parents targets John Muir Medical Center and several of its doctors, alleging medical negligence.

It claims that after Amin’s spinal surgery, hospital staff failed to properly monitor his condition, ignored signs of deterioration, and delayed critical interventions.

The suit alleges that Amin was left unattended for hours, during which he suffered a cardiac arrest and brain damage.

Filed in the Contra Costa County Superior Court, the lawsuit seeks to hold accountable and obtain damages.

The legal process is still unfolding, and no final judgment or settlement has been publicly reported yet.
