Lincoln Michael Riley, born on September 5, 1983, is the head coach of the USC Trojans at the University of Southern California. Riley is one of the nation’s most successful coaches in the country.

However, before starting his coaching career, Riley was a walk-on quarterback at Texas Tech and was popular for his “Air Raid” offensive scheme.

Before coaching the Trojans, the former quarterback was the head coach at the University of Oklahoma for five seasons until 2021. Moreover, he led the team to four consecutive Big 12 Championship Games.

Additionally, Riley is well known for coaching three Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams. Furthermore, the coach is responsible for producing over 28 draft picks.

Riley has been awarded the prestigious Broyles Award in 2015, Big 12 Coach of the Year, and the AP Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2018.

With a record of the highest winning percentage with the Sooners, Riley has continued his magic with his new team, the USC Trojans.

Lincoln Riley Religion, Ethnicity And Origin

There has been a massive increase in fans wanting to find out about Lincoln Riley’s religion. As a child who grew up in a highly religious and conservative town, the football coach has an unshakeable faith and is religiously a Christian.

Lincoln was born into the household of Mike and Marilyn Riley. He is one of the two children of his parents, who have deep roots in Muleshoe, Texas.

The Riley family settled in Muleshoe in the 1930s. Both his parents come from humble backgrounds and grew up farming.

Mike Riley ran a farming business compressing cotton and a warehouse in a nearby town. Meanwhile, his mother, Marilyn, grew up on her grandparents’ farm in Muleshoe.

Unsurprisingly, Lincoln’s parents met each other and married in Muleshoe, where they have lived all their lives.

However, the two lived in Austin for a while, where they attended the University of Texas and raised their kids, Lincoln and Garrett.

Furthermore, Mike was one of the four Rileys to play as a quarterback for the Muleshoe Mules. Lincoln’s grandfather, Claude, was one of the first who led the Mules to an undefeated season in 1938.

From Quarterback To Head Coach

The Trojan coach showed signs of his intricate knowledge of football from an early age. Indeed, his teachers and parents recalled him drawing out plays amidst huddles in a backyard game with his buddies.

After leading his team at Muleshoe to the state semifinals, Riley received an exciting offer from Texas Tech.

The coaches at Raiders couldn’t help but notice Riley’s intelligence and understanding of football. As a result, Mike Leach offered the quarterback a chance to become a student coach with the Red Raiders.

Riley had always imagined starting his coaching career in a town like Muleshoe. However, an offer to learn with one of the best coaches in football was too good to let go.

As a student at Texas Tech, Riley managed to work for the football program for the next three years. Consequently, in 2007, Lincoln was named the full-time receivers coach at the age of 23.

Moreover, he was an interim offensive coordinator for the Red Raiders in their 2010 Alamo Bowl win.

Later, he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for East Carolina University from 2010 to 2014.

However, it was his five years with the Oklahoma Sooners that made him the coach with the most success before the age of 40.

Riley continues to spread his magic and amaze the crowd with his brilliance with the USC Trojans.
