Tate and his dad Alan, have more than a typical father-son relationship. In a 2019 interview with GpB Sports, the collegiate football player referred to his father as his role model & his mentor.

“My dad because he’s always been there for me. I train with him, I don’t have a personal trainer, I’ve always trained with him growing up.”

While talking with Tallahassee Democrat in September 2022, Alan recalled a moment that “had him in tears” after the Seminoles’ 35-31 victory over the Louisville Cardinals.

As reported, when he heard that his son attempted a pass, he took a 30-mile bus ride to Danielsville.

Not only that, his son, Tate, also replaced injured Jordan Travis in the second quarter and contributed to the victory. He made 6 of 10 passes for 109 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Father Filed A Lawsuit Against Valdosta

In April 2020, Alan Rodemaker filed a lawsuit against the five board members of Valdosta High School citing racial discrimination after they voted not to renew his contract.

It was because, despite the superintendent’s recommendation, the board voted 4-5 to opt him out; those 5 were from the black community and didn’t explain their decision.

However, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed Alan’s case on September 8, 2021. So, he filed another lawsuit naming the school board and the five black members as agents.

The update on the case is yet to be out.
