Suzanne co-anchored CNN’s international news show Around the World and editions of CNN Newsroom after joining the network from NBC News in 2002.

She also served as the network’s White House correspondent and primary substitute for Wolf Blitzer on The Situation Room. In 2023, she left the network.

From 1992 until 1996, Malveaux worked as a general assignment correspondent for New England Cable News in Boston.

She subsequently relocated to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a self-described “rock-and-roll” correspondent for NBC affiliate WRC-TV from 1996 until 1999.

Malveaux has interviewed former presidents George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush, as well as former first lady Laura Bush, as a White House correspondent.

Notably, Suzanne’s genealogical journey revealed a French-Canadian fur trader from Quebec in the 17th century as part of her French ancestry and even a Kaskaskia Indian among her father’s ancestors.

Additionally, one of her Louisiana ancestors was a free black man who owned slaves, showcasing the intricate historical and social dynamics within her family’s heritage.

Suzanne is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and previously dated Karine Jean-Pierre. 

In 2012, Jean-Pierre and Suzanne first met during the Democratic National Convention.

Suzanne was there as a CNN correspondent covering the convention, while Jean-Pierre was working for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

They crossed paths at a donor party, which was held at a nightclub. Jean said that she spotted Suzanne across a very crowded dancefloor.

While they chatted via email, they didn’t start dating until two months later, in November 2012.

They began a long-distance relationship since Malveaux was covering the presidential campaign in Atlanta and Jean-Pierre was located in New York.

In early 2014, the two moved in together in Washington, DC. Then, in May, they welcomed their daughter, whom they named Soleil.

They claim that it was Suzanne who initiated the adoption process. Now, they are jointly raising her.
