One of LeBron James’ four friends since his high school days, Willie McGee, is a married man. McGee’s wife’s name is Sara.
Willie McGee was part of one of the most exciting teams in the high school basketball circuit back in the days dubbed “The Fab 5.”
One of the members of The Fab 5 was LeBron James, who is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time.
Besides James, “The Fab 5” featured Dru Joyce III, Romeo Travis, Sian Cotton, and Willie McGee—all five players for St. Vincent St. Mary High School.
At present, Willie works as a We Are Family Coach with the LeBron James Family Foundation.
McGee completed his bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at Fairmont State University.
Similarly, he graduated with a master’s degree in Physical Education & Sports Administration.
After working several jobs and honing his skills, he joined Chowan University as an assistant men’s basketball coach.
He also served as a director of athletics at his alma mater, St. Vincent St. Mary High School, and chief executive officer at the Dale program before taking his present job.
Willie McGee Wife, Sara
Willie is married to Sara, who goes by “speigybaby” on Instagram. She celebrates her birthday every year on November 1.
The pair welcomed a son, Illya Richard Duboise McGee, on February 25, 2021. They also seem to have a daughter, but we could not verify if she is from their relationship.
Unfortunately, there is no further information about Willie’s wife, as she likes to keep her personal life away from the limelight.
Taking about Willie’s early life, Willie had a really tough time growing up as both of his parents were addicts. However, his elder brother, Illya McGee, looked after him and saved his life.
Illya was a father figure and blueprint in life to Willie. However, Illya died unexpectedly on June 30 at the age of 52.
Willie’s elder brother was married to Victoria JaNeen and shared two daughters, Aliyah Victoria and Amya JaNeen.
In honor of his brother, Willie named his son Illya.
Willie McGee And The Fab 5 In The Shooting Stars
Lately, the Lakers star has been actively showing his presence in the film and media space.
James has done some cameos in a few movies, including a lead role in ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy.’
And a new drama film revolving around the “Fab 5” and their high school journey titled ‘Shooting Stars’ was released on June 2, 2023.
In the movie, Avery S. Wills Jr. plays the character of Willie McGee.
The coach of the “Fab 5,” Dru Joyce II, made his point that he would be happy if the true essence of the story, i.e., their friendship, is captured in the movie.
Previously, the story of their friendship was presented in the 2008 documentary, ‘More Than A Game.’
The five friends have been very close with each other since their high school days, and with the news of James’ retirement continuing to swirl around, his friends also shared their thoughts on when he could retire.
Four members of the Fab 5 don’t think the veteran player will retire, but they believe that he is thinking about it.
