Coco, being the first child, forever remains special to her parents. Her father, despite being behind bars, sent her a heartfelt birthday message on her 13th birthday.

Cain Velasquez tweeted a “Happy Birthday” message while posting multiple photos of father and daughter enjoying past times together.

He wrote,

“Happy 13th birthday Coco! I miss you so much! Te amo mucho.”

In his message, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion expressed his hope for release from jail at an upcoming hearing. He stated,

“I hope God grants us the ultimate gift for your birthday, for me to be home with you.”

Unfortunately, Velasquez’s request for bail was denied by the judge. The hearing was postponed until May 16, extending his time in custody by 10 days.

Cain Velasquez Legal Battle Updates

Cain Velasquez’s trial for attempted murder has been delayed, but there’s a new trial date set for January 2024.

In a recent Santa Clara County meeting, a trial date was set for December 6, and the actual trial is scheduled for January 2024.

The trial date has been postponed five times since January, with the defense requesting each delay.

Cain Velasquez didn’t attend the hearing, but his supporters joined on Zoom using hashtags like #Cain2Trial and #NoMentalDiversion4Cain.

In February 2022, Velasquez allegedly pursued and shot at a car with three people, leading to over eight months in jail.

He thought Harry Goularte harmed his son at daycare but accidentally shot Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender, in the car.

Goularte was previously arrested for child harm allegations and is awaiting his trial date in court.

The Velasquez family has also sued the Goulartes, Bender, and daycare-related businesses in a civil lawsuit.

If guilty of attempted murder, Velasquez could get 20 years to life in prison under California law.
