For the first time in more than two decades, the footballing world will witness two European giants facing off against each other.

Chelsea will face Real Madrid in one of the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 20/21 season.

This will be the first time these two clubs have met since 1998 where Chelsea won 1-0.

In a total of three games played between the teams, Chelsea has won twice while drawing one.

Both teams are fighting to reach the finals of the Champions League and everyone believes that this match will be full of actions.

Tuchel Looking To Make Back-To-Back Final Appearance

Current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel took his previous side PSG to the finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history in the 19/20 season.

The German boss, now, has the opportunity to reach his second final appearance in two years, this time, with Chelsea.

During his PSG time, Tuchel lost a tight game against Bayern Munich 1-0. With all the talents in their locker, everyone thought PSG would win but they couldn’t.

Then PSG Captain, Thiago Silva is now working again under Tuchel in Chelsea. They both hope to change their destiny and reach the finals.

The way Chelsea are currently playing, there is a high chance for them to overcome the Champions League giants Real Madrid.

How Did These Clubs Reach The Semi-Finals?

Real Madrid faced Liverpool while Chelsea went up against Porto in their respective quarter-final matches.

The team from the capital of Spain dominated the former UCL champions Liverpool 3-1 in two legs of the competition.

Real are currently in a four-way battle in La Liga against Barcelona, Sevilla and Atletico to be crowned the champions of Spain.

The club from London beat the Portuguese giants Porto 2-1 in the two legs they faced each other.

Chelsea, however, are currently fighting Leicester City, Westham, and Liverpool for the top-four position in the Premier League.

What Do The Clubs Have In Common?

Many players have played for both of these clubs as well as they have a common manager.

Currently, ex-Chelsea stars like Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois are playing for the Los Blancos while Mateo Kovacic, an ex-Madrid player is under the Chelsea banner.

In the past, legendary players like Arjen Robben, Claude Makelele, Essien, and Ricardo Carvalho have played for both sides.

While players like Morata and Higuain have also made some appearances for both Chelsea and Real Madrid but didn’t make any significant impacts.

As for the manager, Jose ‘The Special One’ Mourinho coached both Chelsea and Real Madrid and won significant titles with both of the clubs.

Probable Lineups For The Team

Real Madrid have had a lot of injuries this season, especially to their winger Eden Hazard. The Belgian winger has just made 37 appearances for the Los Blancos.

Eden made his move to Madrid from Chelsea and has had a lackluster season full of injuries.

However, the Madridistas can breathe a sigh of relief as the Belgian will be available to face his former side in the Champions League.

With Hazard’s inclusion, Real Madrid might start with the following lineup:

Starting XI: Courtois (GK), Carvajal, Varane, Militao, Nacho, Casemiro, Modrid, Kroos, Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius.

Mateo Kovacic, who represented the Los Blancos will not be able to reunite with his former teammates as Thomas Tuchel said the midfielder will be out due to a hamstring injury.

Apart from the Croatian, Chelsea have no worries about any injuries or suspension as every player is fit enough to be in the match.

Jorginho and Kante will be influential in the midfield while Thiago Silva will look to reach another final.

Chelsea will look to field the following lineup:

Mendy (GK), Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Silva, Christensen, Chilwell, Jorginho, Kante, Mount, Pulisic, Werner.
