Chet Holmgren was born Chet Thomas Holmgren on May 1, 2002, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, to former college basketball player David Holmgren and Sarah Harris.
His father played basketball for the University of Minnesota. Chet began playing basketball under the guidance of his father. Besides his parents, Chet has one older sister and one younger sister.
