The Arizona Diamondbacks recruited Chris in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft out of Gilbert High School located in Gilbert, South Carolina.

After that, the Carolinian underwent the 2012 period through the Visalia Rawhide of the Class A-Advanced California League.

The Diamondbacks nominated Owings’ agreement from Reno on September 3, 2013, after the main league rosters were extended.

He made his major league inauguration that day, where he squeezed a hit in the fifth inning in contradiction of the Toronto Blue Jays and was stranded out to the second baseman.

In the spring drill, Owings contested for the preparatory shortstop part with Didi Gregorius, the Diamondbacks’ starting shortstop throughout the prior period.
