His brother, Dorell Wright, is an American former professional basketball player who had played for the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA.

The two Wright brothers have an almost age difference of seven years. Their parents kept the brothers involved in athletes from an early age.

Dorell attended Leuzinger high school and was drafted by Miami Heat in the 2004 NBA Draft. In addition, he also won the 2006 NBA championship with Miami Heat.

He completed in the top 10 in the Pac-12 Conference; he averaged 16.9 points, 4.89 steals, and 2.56 blocks, with a field goal percentage of 56.1 percent and a free-throw percentage of 80.5.

Toronto Raptors

Delon Wright was drafted with the 20th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors on June 25, 2015.

He signed his rookie contract with the Toronto Raptors and was subsequently enlisted in the team for the 2015 NBA Summer League.

In April 2016, Wright scored a season-high 19 points in a 111-98 victory against the Indiana Pacers. He had multiple stints with Raptors 905 of the NBA Development League.

Wright missed the 2016-17 season due to a right shoulder injury. In January 2018, Wright scored a career-high 25 points and 13 rebounds in a 124-115 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

Also, he had his first career double-double and struck four 3-pointers to dominate the second unit.

Memphis Grizzlies

Delon Wright was traded to Memphis Grizzlies for Marc Gasol on February 7, 2019.

Then, on April 5, Wright scored a career-high 26 points in a 122-112 win against the Dallas Mavericks. In addition, he also recorded his first career triple-double and added 14 assists and ten rebounds.

Afterward, Wright recorded his second triple-double and added 20 points, 12 assists, and 13 rebounds in a 129-127 win against the Dallas Mavericks.

In July 2019, Delon Wright was procured by the Dallas Mavericks in a sign-and-trade deal with the Memphis Grizzlies in a swap for a two-second-round pick and the draft rights to Satnam Singh.

Detroit Pistons

In November 2020, Wright was traded to the Detroit Pistons in a three-team trade, including the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In January 2021, Wright made a career-high 28 points in a 119-104 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Sacramento Kings
