Shortly after, the Oilers signed the forward to a one-year contract worth $975 thousand. In the Edmond team, he played with a fellow German forward, Leon Draisaitl. 

Initially, the athlete played for his former German team EHC München as the 2020–21 NHL season would start late.

Moreover, the Oilers loaned him to München until the start of the season.
