Don “Wink” Martindale is best known for his role as a defensive coordinator in the National Football League (NFL).

Martindale has held various coaching positions throughout his career, both at the collegiate and professional levels.

He gained significant attention for his work as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens’ defense became one of the most dominant forces and won the Super Bowl XLVII.

Before joining the Ravens, Martindale had coaching stints with several other NFL teams. Moreover, he also spent time coaching in the collegiate ranks.

Expanding their family circle, Martindale takes pride in his role as a grandfather to a delightful granddaughter named Gigi.

Despite Martindale’s preference for maintaining a low profile regarding his family life, a humorous moment arose when he drew a playful parallel concerning his relationship with his wife amidst circulating rumors about potential disagreements with head coach Brian Daboll.

When probed by a reporter about any possible conflicts with Daboll, Martindale jokingly remarked, “I don’t see eye-to-eye with my wife all the time.”

Transitioning to a more solemn tone, the Ohio-born coach emphasized his professional commitment, stating,

“He’s the head coach and it’s my job to forward his plan. That’s what I’m going to do.”

Resigns As Giants Defensive Coordinator

The New York Giants are hunting for a new defensive coordinator as they part ways with their current defensive strategist, Don “Wink” Martindale, in 2024.

Numerous sources confirm Martindale’s resignation from his role as the Giants’ defensive coordinator.

Martindale initially joined the Giants’ coaching staff in 2022, following a successful four-year tenure as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.

His appointment came under the leadership of head coach Brian Daboll.

Interestingly, earlier on the same day, Daboll publicly expressed his anticipation that Martindale would continue as the defensive coordinator for the upcoming season.

However, circumstances swiftly changed, leaving the Giants in a position to revamp their defensive strategies.

Following a lackluster second season under Daboll’s leadership, the Giants are poised for extensive transformations within their coaching staff.

The immediate priority for the team will be to identify and onboard a new defensive coordinator who aligns with Daboll’s vision and objectives for the upcoming seasons.
