After high school, the power forward committed to Cincinnati and played for the Bearcats. In his first year with the team, he recorded 7.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.3 blocks per game and was named to the All-Rookie team.

In his sophomore season, Clark became one of the top defensive players in the AAC with his excellent game skills and talent. He was also named second-team All-AAC and the Defensive conference Player of the Year.

His impressive performance continued in his junior year and he was named to the preseason All-AAC first team.

He wrapped his senior year, averaging 12.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.3 rebounds per game, and earned the AAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Clark became the AAC tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after he posted an average of 16.3 points and 11.7 rebounds in the conference tournament.

NBA Career

Gary started his NBA journey after he was signed by the Houston Rockets as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

The power forward made his NBA in a 112-131 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on October 17, 2018.

Clark had signed a two-way deal with the Rockets, but looking at his talent and dedication, the Rockets changed the contract to a standard agreement on December 6, 2018.

After nearly two years, he was waived by the Rockets on January 7, 2020.

On January 14, 2020, the Orlando Magic signed Clark to a ten-day deal and another 10-day contract on January 29.

Clark played well during those 20 days, which convinced the Magic to sign him for the rest of the season.

However, on March 25, 2021, Clark and Aaron Gordon were traded to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton, and a future first-round pick.

After playing only two games for the Nuggets, he was waived on April 9. After almost a month without any team, Gary finally landed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Unfortunately, his time with the 76ers came to an end after only two games. After he departed from the 76ers, he signed with the Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico of the NBA G League on November 5, 2021.

For the Capitanes, the power forward averaged 14.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 8 games.

On December 3, 2021, Clark joined the New Orleans Pelicans, becoming the first Capitanes player ever to be called up in the NBA. Later on January 9, 2022, he signed a two-way contract with the Pelicans after being waived on January 7.

On November 4, 2022, he returned to Capitanes and is currently playing for the team in the G league.
