  1. In my opinion Greg McElroy is very successful at everything he has done. On a more personal level Greg is a very caring person. Let me tell you how I know this. In April of 2011 my son and his then pregnant new bride were in a horrific tornado that ripped through Alabama. They both sustained some terrible injuries. My son however sustained very life threatening injuries that would keep him in the ICU in Gadsden Alabama for a solid month. It took approximately 2 weeks before we were given much hope for his survival. Once we were told that he would survive I made a call to the University of Alabama. I spoke with Coach Nick Sabans personal assistant. After explaining my son’s situation she asked me if he could have visitors. I explained that in the coming days he would be moved from ICU to an ICU stepdown unit and then would be allowed more opportunity for visitors. She gave me a date and time and told me that we would have a visitor from a familiar face. I asked who? She only told me that we would recognize this person and told me to meet them at the main entrance of the hospital that coming Friday at 1 pm. On Friday at 1 pm I was standing at the agreed upon meeting place and up came came a black Chevrolet Suburban. The door opened right in front of me and out stepped none other than our heroic National Championship winning Mr Greg McElroy. I was shocked and delighted. We made our way up the elevator and to my son’s hospital room. We entered his room and I announced to him that he had a visitor. He was absolutely delighted to see Greg. Myself, my son, Greg and a host of other visitors sat and talked about my sons experience with his injuries for a bit and then we talked Alabama Football for almost 2 hours. It was absolutely fantastic. Greg is such a great person, a gracious person and a caring person. I (we) appreciated what he did that day more than anyone could ever realize. I also appreciate what Coach Nick Saban and his personal assistant did to orchestrate this whole thing. We love Alabama, we love Coach Saban,, and not only Greg McElroy but every player that comes to Alabama and plays a part in making Alabama the dynasty that its become. Again Thank You Greg. My family will love you forever for being the caring person you are.
