The former NBA player, Iman Shumpert, grew up alongside three brothers. The basketball player turned rapper, Iman, also shares a podcast with one of his brothers.
There can’t be any bond in this world stronger than a sibling bond. The former Sacramento Kings player Iman has it with his three brothers, with two of them relatively staying out of the limelight.
Last year, with his older brother Ahrii, Iman launched a podcast, “Iman Amongst Men,” which is now in its second season. The Shumpert brothers didn’t grow up in a household of basketball players, with their dad being an insurance broker and their mom a teacher.
Podcast life seems to have turned Iman into a star after his basketball career ended. His NBA stories are famous on TikTok and YouTube, and his Kobe Bryant story has gained traction in the past few years.
Iman Shumpert Brothers
Iman Shumpert brothers, Ahrii, Kasani, and Odis Jr, were raised by their parents in Berwyn, Illinois.
The three brothers of Ima Shumpert took a different route than him and never became basketball players. But that didn’t stop them from having a strong bond.
The oldest brother among the three, Odis Jr, is a graduate of Triton College. The oldest Shumpert brother hasn’t provided much detail about his personal life, and he last updated his Facebook handle in 2021 and Instagram handle in 2019.
Kasani Shumpert, like his brother, attended Oak Park and River Forest High School. On his Twitter, Kasani can be seen giving his opinions on basketball and music, the two field his brother has earned his name.
From his Instagram handle, it looks like Kasani is a father to a child. He has previously shared a series of photos with a child on his Instagram in which Iman commented, “Family over everything.”
Iman And Ahrii Are A Podcast Duo
Ahrii Shumpert is the older brother to Iman and said he never took his little brother as his competition. The two brothers appeared on Sway’s Universe channel in 2022 and talked about their relationship.
When the conversation diverted toward fatherhood, Ahrii told his story as he entered parenthood at 19. He said in the beginning, it was a bit difficult for him to understand everything that happens legally, but as his kid got older, he too matured on this topic.
During the interview, the two brothers also promoted their podcast, “Iman Amongst Men.” The podcast was renewed for a second season earlier this year in April.
In their other interview with IAMMIKEMUSE, it was also revealed that Ahrii had previously worked as a barber. During the conversation, the trio also talked about the cultural significance of barbers in their community.
Iman Shumpert Parents, Odis And L’Tanya Shumpert
Iman Shumpert’s parents, Odia and L’Tanya Shumpert do not have an athletic background.
Iman’s father, Odis Shumpert, is a Loyola University Chicago graduate and earned his Political science and government degree in 1980. After graduation, Odis worked at Byrne, Byrne, and Company, a private insurance and consulting firm, for 17 years.
He then began his own insurance agency Odis insurance agency. Iman’s mother, L’Tanya Shumpert, is a teacher at Columbia College Chicago and is part of the Art & Design department.
And though Odis Shumpert did insurance for more than three decades, cooking was his biggest passion.
The father-son duo of Odis and Iman was featured in Uninterrupted Channel, with Odis cooking for his son like he always did since his high school days.
During the cooking, the father-son duo recalled their older days and how hard they worked to get to this point.
Odis and L’Tanya have always seen their son Iman conquer every field he participated in. In 2021, though they couldn’t be present, they saw their son lift the title of Dancing With The Stars from their home.
After his victory, Iman dedicated the title to his mom. He said to the PEOPLE, “I just can’t wait for my mom to actually get our hands on this trophy because this is a show that means a lot to her.”
