The former football coach, Sam Wyche, passed away in 2020 at age 74. The former Cincinnati Bengals head coach died due to complications of melanoma, as said by his family.
Born in 1945, Sam was raised in Atlanta by his parents, Joseph and Sarah Wyche. His father, Joseph, was a salesman, and his mother, Sarah, was a homemaker. Their relationship didn’t last, and the couple was soon divorced.
Sam graduated from Furman University with a degree in business and later earned his master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. At Furman, he also met the love of his life, Jane Underwood, whom he married in 1965.
The couple had two kids, Kerry and Zachary Wyche. Sam’s son, Zachary, followed in his footsteps and became a football coach. In an interview from 2022, Zachary was said to be coaching at St. Xavier High School.
