The Pirates traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Antonio Bastardo on December 10, 2014. 

After nearly two years, on September 11, 2016, Joely made his major league debut and produced a 2.79 ERA over 92/3 innings in his rookie year. 

On June 13, 2017, he was traded to the Texas Rangers and spent the remainder of the 2017 season with the Round Rock Express, an affiliate minor league of the Rangers, making a 2–0 record with a 6.33 ERA over 27 innings.

Rodríguez signed a minor league deal with the Baltimore Orioles on November 28, 2017. But, on July 19, 2018, he opted out of the contract and became a free agent. 

On July 25, 2018, Joely signed with the Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).

In his first season, he broke the NPB velocity record for a left-hand pitcher throwing down a 159 kilometers per hour (99 mph) pitch.

Rodriguez re-signed with the Chunichi Dragons for the 2019 season and made 77 strikeouts in 60+1/2 innings.

The athlete re-signed on December 16, 2019, with the Texas Rangers on a two-year contract, and in his first season, he played 12 games and made an ERA of 2.13. 

On July 29, 2021, he was traded to New York Yankees and had 21 appearances. After the 2021 season, the club signed Joely for two years.  

However, he was again traded on April 3, 2022, to New York Mets, where he played 55 games and made 57 strikeouts, and 50.1 innings pitched.

Finally, he was signed by Boston Red Sox on November 23, 2022, for one year.
