Early Life

John Felix Anthony Cena Jr. was born to Carol Cena (born Lupien) and John Felix Anthony Cena Sr. on April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts. His zodiac sign is Taurus. His mother is of English and French-Canadian descent, and his father is of Italian descent. Baseball player, and a coach, Ulysses John “Tony” Lupien, is his maternal grandfather.

When Cena was in school, his parents went through a divorce, and he lived with his father for most of his childhood. As an adult, though, John got close to her mother and even got her a house in Massachusetts.

In 1999, John Cena began training to become a professional wrestler at Ultimate Pro Wrestling and made his in-ring debut under the name The Prototype. He won the UPW title and held it for 27 days in April of 2000. His last appearance in UPW was in March 2001.

Similarly, Cena also made an unofficial appearance, with an unofficial debut under his ring name, “The Prototype,” for World Wrestling Federation in October 2000, in a dark match on a “SmackDown!” taping, that he lost against Mikey Richardson.

He received another tryout for WWF at a  “SmackDown!” taping at Oakland, California, on January 9, 2001. He won that dark match against Aaron Aguilera, held on March 13.

Slowly, Cena entered competitions and also signed contracts. The first contract he signed was with WWF to Ohio Valley Wrestling ( OVW) in 2001. After the contract, he impressively held the OVW Heavyweight title for three months. Moreover, he also received tryouts for the roasted of WWF throughout the year.

Likewise, Cena joined the main roster in June 2002 and made his television debut on June 27 against Kurt Angle on an episode of “SmackDown!”.

 Ohio Valley Wrestling (2001–2002)

After signing for OVW, John was frequently seen competing on house shows for the WWF. Here, he wrestled legends like Shelton Benjamin, Tommy Dreamer, and many others. Few could only dream of defeating Cena until one day when it happened. On September 25, 2002, he lost to Kane in a ‘Loser Leaves OVW’ match.

Later, he appeared on a one-off appearance in November. The name he chose was Mr. P, where he was matching in a six-man tag team match. His teammate consisted of Charlie Haas and WWE Hall of Famer Big Boss Man.

Acting career

Yes, you have read it right, John Cena has also appeared in many films. His first film was The Marine, which was released in 2006 WWE Studios. The film was made almost US $7 million at the United States box office.
