Benjamin was raised in his hometown, Orangeburg, South Carolina, and thus attended high school at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.

To illustrate, he commenced his wrestling in his sophomore year with a 122–10 overall win-loss record and was a two-time South Carolina state high school heavyweight wrestling champion (1993-1994).

As for his college, he attended Lassen Community College in Susanville, California, where he claimed the championship of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) track and field 100m.

Not to mention, he also became NJCAA collegiate wrestling champion. In 1995, Benjamin got a full football scholarship at North Carolina State University, which he attended briefly.

The Year 2000

Benjamin made his professional debut through a contract with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as he was placed in its developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling  (OVW).

Moreover, he met Brock Leshnar and formed a tag team with him, and together they were known as the “Minnesota Stretching Crew.”

The Minnesota Stretching Crew ruled during February and July and won the title for the third time from Rico Constantino and The Prototype on October 29.

However, in November, Leshnar had to go to the main roster; thus, Benjamin formed a tag team with Redd Dogg Begnaud called “The Dogg Pound.”

Afterward, they won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship on July 17, 2002, making several house shows for the main WWE roster.

The World’s Greatest Tag Team

On December 26, 2002, Benjamin joined WWE’s SmackDown! Brand as a heel (antagonist) under the supervision of Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle alongside Charlie Haas, widely known as “Team Angle.”

The Year 2003

On January 2, on the episode of SmackDown! against Edge and Chris Benoit, they made their foremost televised match on WWE.

Benoit teamed with Brock Lesnar until NO Way Out and defeated Team Angle as their feud continued.

On February 3, just within a month’s interval, they defeated the champions, Los Guerreros  (Eddie and Chavo Guerrero), thus, advancing to their first WrestleMania match at  WrestleMania XIX.

They wrestle against Los Guerreros, Chris Benoit, and Rhyno, thus gaining their tag title in a Triple Threat match.

Unfortunately, they faced a loss against Eddie Guerrero and his new partner Tajiri at Judgment Day in a ladder match.

Feud With Evolution and Intercontinental Champion

The Year 2004

Right in his starting years after he was drafted to the Raw brand as part of the 2004 WWE draft on March 22, he was successful in making his mark, claiming an upset victory over Triple H.

Furthermore, he defeated Triple H thrice by pinfall, countdown, and disqualification.

He also started a feud with other members of Triple H’s stable Evolution and won over Ric Flair at Backlash.

However, he had a sorrowful loss against Randy Orton in an Intercontinental Championship match at Bad Blood.

He commenced his feud against then-Intercontinental Champion Ric Flair for the year and wrestled against him on February 20.

During the match, “momma” faked a heart problem earning enough time for Benjamin to cheat and win back the title of Intercontinental Champion.

Advancing with the time, “momma” stopped attending Benjamin’s ring games.

Thus, Benjamin explained her absence from her heart surgery; however, the truth spilled out, stating it was because someone sexually harassed her in WWE.

Moving forward, Benjamin started his rivalry against Rob Van Dam during the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 22.

Hence, he changed his appearance by wearing shades, jewelry, and occasional colored shirts while entering the ring.

Moreover, during Raw’s episode, Hass defeated Benjamin, which led to the Backlash “Winner Takes All” match.

The Year 2006

On the December 4 episode of Raw, Benjamin took a victory over Super Crazy (Francisco Islas Rueda), and his former tag team partner, Hass, came to celebrate the win.

Reuniting back in a segment with Cryme Tyme, on the same night, they defeated the Highlanders.

The Year 2007

The World’s Greatest Tag Team then started their feud with Cryme Tyme, utterly failing to win them in a tag team turmoil match at New Year’s Revolution on January 7.

However, on the January 29 episode of Raw, they managed to win Cryme Tyme. Benjamin entered the Royal Rumble match at the namesake pay-per-view but was eliminated by Shawn Michaels.

Another loss came against Ric Flair and Carlito’s team on the April 2 episode of Raw. However, in the next episode, Haas distracted Carlito, allowing Benjamin to gain the pin over Flair; thus, they won the match.

In two weeks intervals, they successfully won over Cartilo via countout.

As they started their rivalry against Paul London and Brian Kendrick, the duo lost the match, and again, Benjamin lost a single game against London. However, in the end, they gained a victory against them.

The Year 2007

On November 20, Benjamin started anew with blonde hair and gold wrestling attire Naming himself “The Gold standard” as Elijah Burke Introduced him as a new member of ECW.

At this moment, he made his debut defeating Tommy Dreamer, which helped him garner more airtime and higher profile matches.

The Year 2010

On July 24 in San Diego, California, Benjamin made his Independent circuit debut against Scorpio Sky.

On July 31, he won the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship against Ray González during the World Wrestling Council’s “La Revolución” show in Puerto Rico.

After nearly 4 months of the title, he lost it to Cartilo at Crossfire on November 27

For American Wrestling Rampage, Benjamin made his debut on November 10 with Haas facing La Résistance.

On March 9, Benjamin won the MWF Heavyweight Championship in the year’s first half and lost it on June 4.

After 11 years, Benjamin and Angle reunited at JAPW’s 18th Anniversary Show, and alongside Hass, he defeated Chris Sabin and Teddy Hart.

Into the bargain,  Global Force Wrestling (GFW) announced Benjamin as part of their roster on May 15.

Right after, he made his debut for the promotion on June 20, defeating Chris Mordetzky in a main event singles match.

Ring of Honor

The Year 2010

Benjamin made his Ring of Honor debut on September 11 at Glory By Honor IX with Hass against The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli).

On December 9, they returned to the Ring of Honor Wrestling television tapings, winning over the Bravado Brothers (Harlem and Lance).

They claimed the ticket to an eight-man tag team match the following day after defeating the All-Night Express of Kenny King and Rhett Titus at the second set of television tapings.

Therefore, they teamed with the Briscoe Brothers against the Kings of Wrestling and the All-Night Xpress, which ended in a no contest.

The Final Battle 2010 was on December 18, when Benjamin and Hass announced publicly to wrestle regularly for the Ring of Honor in 2011.

The Year 2011

On February 26, during the pay-per-view 9th Anniversary Show, Benjamin and Hass claimed the victory over the Briscoe Brothers in the evening’s main event.

Hence, this allowed them to earn another shot at the Kings of Wrestling and the ROH World Tag Team Championship, which they attended on April 1 and won the wrestle.

During Best in the world 2011 on June 26, Benjamin and Hass successfully defeated the ROH World Tag Team Championship in a four-way match against the Briscoe Brothers, the Kings of Wrestling, and the All Night Express.

On December 23 at  Final Battle 2011, they lost the title to the Briscoe Brothers after months.

The Year 2012

Likewise, the Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team took back the ROH World Tag Team Championship from the Briscoe Brothers on May 12 at Border Wars.

Furthermore, they lost it again to Kenny King and Rhett Titus on June 24 at Best in the World 2012.

Unfortunately, ROH suspended Benjamin as he attacked Titus and several ROH officials with a steel chair; thus, he went to Japan for the time being.

He returned on September 15. He helped Haas, and Rhett Titus during their tag team championship tournament matches at Death Before Dishonor X: State of Emergency.

To end the year, Benjamin defeated Titus and B.J. Whitmer in a Street Fight On December 16 at Final Battle 2012: Doomsday.

The Year 2013

On February 2, Hass turned on Benjamin during the ROH World Tag Team Championship match against The Briscoe Brothers.

Therefore, they were scheduled to fight on April 5 at  Supercard of Honor VII, but Hass went away with the promotion, while Benjamin had to face Mike Bennett.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling

New Japan Pro-Wrestling was officially announced on December 9, 2011, stating that Benjamin would join MVP for a tag match.

The Year 2012

On January 4, Benjamin and MVP faced Masato Tanaka and Yujiro Takahashi at Wrestle Kingdom VI in Tokyo Dome, thus, bagging the victory.

Afterward, they matched against Karl Anderson and Tama Tonga on June 16 at Dominion 6.16 as Benjamin pinned Tonga for the win.

Similarly, Benjamin formed eight tag teams with Karl Anderson, MVP, and Rush on July 29 at Last Rebellion as they faced and won against Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer,  Taichi, and Taka Michinoku).

The following month, Benjamin was featured in the G1 Climax tournament, where he won four out of eight but did not advance to the finals.

The Year 2015

Firstly, Benjamin paired with the rest of Suzuki-gun on January 10, thus, invading a Pro Wrestling Noah show as they attacked Marufuji and TMDK.

Two days later, Benjamin debuted Noah in an eight-tag team match alongside Suzuki, Taichi, and Michinoku.

Altogether, they bought down Marufuji, Atsushi Kotoge, Muhammad Yone, and Taiji Ishimori.

Secondly, Benjamin started a feud with Takashi Sugiura as he worked on all Noah events. On July 18, they finally met in a grudge match where Sugiura took the win.

Later, Benjamin was again defeated in the finals of Noah’s premier singles tournament by Naomichi Marufuji.

Benjamin lost in the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Go Shiozaki on June 12.

Return to WWE

Benjamin returned to WWE officially on the July 26, 2016, episode of SmackDown. On August 7, he announced he required surgery as he had a torn rotator cuff.

The Year 2017

Benjamin notified on Twitter that he could resume his game on March 30. Following it on August 17, he officially dealt with WWE and returned on the August 22 episode of  SmackDown.

Hence, he paired with Chad Gable, working as a fan favorite tag team, and made their ring debut on August 30.

Together, they defeated The Ascension, followed by the win over The Hype Bros at Hell in a Cell. Additionally, they had several title shots for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Usos.

They could also partake in a PPV match at Clash of Champions, in a fatal four-way tag team match against Rusev and Aiden English.

The Year 2018

On the January 2 episode of SmackDown Live, they faced the Usos.

The following week, they were turned into ‘heels’ while demoralizing the referee and the audience and accusing  SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan of being biased.

Therefore, Bryan allocated them for a rematch at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in a 2 out of 3 falls match, which they lost.

The Year 2018

The next day, Benjamin claimed to have his Twitter account hacked and issued a challenge to anyone in the locker room.

Initially, Randy Orton faced him; however, newly drafted United States Champion Jeff Hardy interfered and defeated him.

Similarly, the next week, he issued another open challenge, which Hardy took. However, it was Orton who faced him and got defeated.

Following it, Benjamin partook in the Greatest Royal Rumble as the number 48 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

He competed in the titular 50-man Royal Rumble match and was eliminated by Chris Jericho.

Then, Benjamin paired with The Miz on the May 1 episode of SmackDown, but they lost against Orton and Hardy.
