MMA fighter Joshua Van got an uplift to sudden fame after the year 2023 brought him victories in his first two UFC bouts.
The Houston-raised mixed martial artist, nicknamed “The Fearless,” really lives up to his name. Whoever may be his opponent, this 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 m) tall UFC rookie does not get intimated.
His most recent victory over Kevin Borjas at the UFC 295 (where the main card was Prochazka vs. Pereira) recorded his MMA stats to a 9-1 record.
Originally from Myanmar, Joshua’s been residing in Houston since his parents moved when he was 12.
Now, he competes in the flyweight division in the MMA as an American national- he started his professional journey at Fury FC.
Since his debut in 2021, Van fought in 8 matches at the New Jersey-headquartered MMA promotion, only losing in one match.
At 21, in June 2023, Joshua Van signed with Dana White‘s promotion UFC on a short-notice bout. His debut match with Zhalgas Zhumagulov brought him a victory via split decision.
It made him the first Burmese-born to have a UFC walk and win in the promotion.
Joshua Van Age And Wikipedia: How Old Is The UFC Fighter?
Van, aka “The Fearless,” was born on October 10, 2001, in Hakha, Myanmar, where he lived until seven with his four siblings.
However, due to political & military conflicts in his home country, his parents moved their family to Malaysia. They lived there for three years before they settled in Houston, the United States, when he turned 11.
As of 2025, Joshua is 23 years old. He is an American by nationality, while his ethnicity is Asian.
With his famous feat in mixed martial arts, many are eagerly searching for “Joshua Van Wikipedia,” but he has none.
But his promising talent to accumulate greater achievements gives a call to the near future when he has his own Wiki page.
Nevertheless, Van’s bouts and stats are visible in sports-dedicated tabloid sources- the official website of UFC.com, for instance.
Why And How Did Joshua Begin His MMA Career?
Like many combat athletes, the spark of MMA ignited in Joshua Van due to self-defense.
When his Burmese family settled in the United States, then-pre-teen Van, with little knowledge of English, had to deal with bullies in school.
So, at some point, he would even ask his mother to return to Myanmar, but that attitude would change.
A big fan of Bruce Lee, he would watch street fight videos and use those moves if he got in a fight. Little by little, Joshua was inclined to fight- he admitted during a 2023 interview with the MMA Junkie that he had begun to love fighting.
“I got to the point where I enjoyed fighting. I watched clips on street fights and how to win street fights. I tried it in my next fight and things like that. That’s what got me into my career.”
Reportedly, when he was 16/17, his friends introduced him to MMA, and after watching Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather, he thought of pursuing it.
On the suggestion of his close friend, Joshua joined an MMA gym where he met coach Scott Juarez. Later, it followed his career in the MMA, and has since never looked back.
