On Tuesday, the NBA shooting guard Malik Monk gave a bold statement regarding Lakers’ wins this season.
For those who missed out, Monk is a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Monk is a valuable basketball professional for the Lakers. Though he has not had a long NBA career, he is still regarded as one of the finest shooting guards in the league.
“if we want to win, we really got to come together and do the right things.”
– Malik Monk
NBA star LeBron James has been giving stunning performances consistently for the Lakers. However, the Los Angeles Lakers have lost their last five games.
Malik Monk Frustrated over Lakers’
Malik, similar to many NBA pundits, considers this an issue as the Lakers are unable to win despite James’ brilliant outing in the league.
The problem increased especially during non-James minutes. The Lakers’ have been outscored by 10 points on average when James remains off the field.
And this happened for all the five games in which the Lakers lost.
Concerning this, talking with Lakers Nation, Monk stated, and we quote,
“He (James) a robot, man. He can do whatever he wants to, man. We just as mad as everybody else.”
To this, he also added,
“Probably even more because, like I said before, we all know what we got to do, and sometimes we do it and sometimes don’t. We’re not going to win like that, and everybody knows that.”
Despite having NBA’s four-time champion’s brilliant effort on the field, the Lakers’ poor performances has left Monk frustrated.
Monk further stated that “S*** is super frustrating, man. We’ve been doing this all year, and we know what it is. That’s why it’s so frustrating for us. We just got to be locked in as a whole together, and I think we’ll be alright.”
James, too, spoke to the press regarding this issue. He stated that he would continue to carry the load for the Lakers. James has been averaging 31.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists recently.
Support from Lakers
Monk believes that James’ efforts will go in vain unless the Lakers provide James with more support.
Monk has been supporting James on the field with his performances. On the day of Christmas, he scored twenty points, made four rebounds, and had three assists in 35 minutes.
He states his frustrations as other team members need do the same in supporting James if they are to win matches.
