Former football safety, Mike Davis leaves the mortal rem at the age of 65

As the world is in its own healing process, we are yet again here to mourn for another goodbye in the NFL. 

Well, the former defensive back, Mike Davis is no longer with us. The team Raiders announced his death this Sunday however, the cause of his death was disclosed.

Among his 65 long years journey, Davis had given the whole decade for the NFL professionally. Apart from it, he had many other behind works in and for the field.

Memorable moments with Mike Davis

It is a well-known fact that Mike Davis was the one who made one of the most memorable interceptions in team history. During his years, he also played for the San Diego Chargers and was a Colorado star.

Glancing back, he commenced his journey through the 1977 NFL Draft, where he was the 35th pick overall in the second round.

The Super Bowls 

Apparently, his career consisted of 11 interceptions and 12 fumble recoveries. Among them all, Davis is best remembered for his interception in the 1980 AFC divisional playoff game.

As a matter of fact, this is also the very time when he gained the Super Bowl XV. In the meantime, Davis formed “Red Slot Right, Halfback Stay, 88,” as named by the Associated Press.

In brief, his ‘Red Right 88’ interception was the last-minute two secured points, which bagged the victory for the team.

Likewise, three years later, Mike Davis was again part of the winning team in Super Bowl XVIII.

Overall, Mike played a total of 107 of his 115 career games with the Raiders, while the rest was with the Chargers. Also, with the Raiders, he had played with both Oakland and Los Angeles.

It is hard to let go of someone who has meant so much to everyone. Touching one’s mind is easy however, touching hundreds of hearts can be hard.

The thoughts go to everyone regarding Mike Davis. 

#RaiderNation lost a giant today in Mike Davis. Haven’t met Mike on several occasions & hosting radio shows with him in Arizona it was a blessing to be in his presence.
