Nikolas Tomas Stauskas (born October 7, 1993) is a proficient Canadian basketball player, born to Paul and Ruta Stauskas. He has an older brother named Peter Stauskas.

Stauskas had little interest in the popular Canadian ice hockey or street hockey sports, and he began playing soccer at six but was forced to retire due to an arm injury.

So instead, he began playing basketball with Ausra Sports Club, a traveling team for the youth of Lithuanian heritage based in Toronto.

College Career

Stauskas was referred to Villanova, Iowa State, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Florida, and Providence during his high school career, but he eventually joined the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team.

Stauskas was given the USBWA National Freshman of the Year freshman season.

He was voted Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year the following season and named first-team All-Big Ten by the officials. 

A local of Mississauga, Ontario, Stauskas played two seasons of National Collegiate Athletic Affiliation (NCAA) competition for the Michigan Wolverines finishing with the 2013–14 group before declaring for the NBA draft.

NBA Career

Stauskas was drafted eighth, in the 2014 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, for his NBA career debut.

He was exchanged to the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2015 in a swap bargain.
