Immelman (fully named Trevor John Immelman) was born on 16 December 1979, under Sagittarius’ sun sign. Furthermore, he is the third child of June Immelman and Johan Immelman, born in Cape Town, South Africa. 

Herewith, Trevor has two older siblings; brother Mark Immelman and sister Michelle Greeff. Apparently, the family is the whole one of a kind.

Introduction to Golf

Well, Trevor Immelman started playing golf at an early age of six after announcing his passion for the sport to his family. Indeed, seeing him determined and happy, his parents supported him fully for it. 

Back were the days when they had no Internet and cellphones; thus, they would communicate through fax. Also, as parents, they provided every tool to help Trevor achieve his dream. 

Additionally, Johan had built green in their South African home in the front yard, including a bunker and floodlights for practice. Alongside, Johan made extra sure that Trevor would not miss a single international game. 

Therefore, Trevor was often flying solo in the 19-hour flight to the US for matches. During that tenure, Trevor had two other families in Orlando and San Diego who would look after him during his travel. 

As an amateur, Trevor first bagged the 1995 Rolex Junior Classic during his AJGA debut. Following it, he had reached till finals of the  1997 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. 

Likewise, Trevor is also the winner of the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 1998. As a short fact, Trevor Immelman enrolled in the Hottentots Holland High School for his early education. 

Trevor Immelman | Professional Career

Immelman first started professionally in the field in 1999. Initially, he starred in the second-tier professional tour in Europe, where he was a full member in 2001. 

During his tenure in the European Tour, Immelman bagged four wins and became the first man to defend the South African Open title successfully.

Similarly, in 2003, Immelman took the WGC-World Cup’s victory for South Africa with Rory Sabbatini. Following it, he also claimed the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit in 2002/03.

PGA Tour

Immelman had his breakthrough in the PGA Tour after winning his first PGA Tour event at the Cialis Western Open. Indeed, it pushed him to the top 15 in the Official World Golf Rankings. 

In 2006, he also became the Rookie of the Year and the top 10 on the PGA Tour money list.

After such an interesting year, Immelman fell into the abyss of illness, which bought him missed games and severe discomfort.

Apparently, it was the injuries that weigh Immelman down in the long run later. It started back in 2007 when Immelman faced severe discomfort around his ribcage area and a problem breathing.

Fibrosis Tumor

Indeed, it became the reason for him to withdraw from the South African Airways Open. Eventually, he underwent surgery on 18 December 2007, as doctors discovered a lesion in his diaphragm. 

Altogether, they concluded with a benign fibrosis tumor. During the tenure, he pretty much lost 22 pounds and even missed most of the 2008 PGA Tour season.

In the meantime, he was mostly throwing up; therefore, he was put up on the lactose-free diet. 

Tendonitis 

In October 2009, Trevor Immelman faced tendonitis in his left wrist and elbow, which immediately kept him away from the U.S. Open.

Therewith, he underwent surgery from the same doctor who did similar procedures on Luke Donald and Jim Furyk.

Indeed, this plagued him for much of the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Immelman is a married man, a family man, and a father to his kids. Apparently, Immelman is married to his childhood sweetheart, Carminita Immelman. 

As a matter of fact, the duo is each other’s first love, and I don’t know what’s better than that. Additionally, after dating, the duo took their vows on December 6, 2003.

They first met at Hottentots Holland High School in the Western Cape in South Africa at the age of 14-years old. Also, Carminita is a bit private and keeps herself away from the spotlight.

In fact, she was only seen in the public nicely back in 2008, when Trevor won the Masters tournament. At present, the duo shares two kids, a daughter, and a son. 

Well, their son is named Jacob Immelman, who loves golf as his father. Their daughter is Badger. Altogether, the family is complete with their pet dogs.
