Before BYU   

As a four-star recruit from the Crestwood High school, he was initially signed with the University of North Carolina. However, after playing there for one year, he got transferred to the University of South Carolina in the SEC. 

He played for Keith Crolley and Roosevelt Nelson at Crestwood High school and ignited Knight to lead to a 9-4 record and a AAA playoff victory in 2013.

Certainly named as all-region and was selected to play in the 2014 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl, a South Carolina all-star game.

He successfully rushed 181 times for 1,608 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior in 2013, and also, not to mention, he gained 1,008 yards on the grounds and scored 17 touchdowns as a sophomore.

After redshirting in 2016, he played Gamecocks of the SEC for two years, 2017-18, where he rushed for 799 yards as a running back player. He played in 20 games at South Carolina with an average carry record of 4.8 yards.

Williams also posted nine receptions for 152 yards. Apparently, as a redshirt sophomore, he completed second on the team with 95 carries for 142 yards and one touchdown.

He appeared for six games while playing in his freshman season with North Carolina, rushing 19 times for 57 yards.

Besides, he was ranked 11th for running back player in the nation out of high school with offers to Clemson, Wisconsin, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke, Michigan, Mississippi State, NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Notre Dame, and Virginia and also an ESPN Top 300 and is also considered the top player in South Caroline By ESPN.

BYU Career

After completing his undergrad degree, he entered the transfer portal because of his inconsistent South Carolina role. 

As fast as Williams was seen in the portal’s names, BYU offered directly to him without even concerning the Gamecocks and Tar Heel. Williams chose BYU over Fresno State and Marshall. 

He instantly started playing as a Cougars running back player while keeping himself in the spotlight. Also, BYU head coach Kalani Sitaki said he was an emerging leader. 

“He’s got all the skills needed to make it in the NFL. He’s got the physical characteristics, too.” — BYU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes, formerly LSU’s running game coordinator.

While playing his first match against Utah, being on the starting team and winning over the Tennessee team, he managed to carry only seven carries.

Still, he averaged 6.4 yards per carrying, equal to the average as Buffalo Bills Draftee former players Ute Zack Moss.

Knee Injury

Furthermore, Williams got a chance to play 3 more games for BYU before receiving the injury against the Washington Huskies.

He managed to rush 267 yards with 49 carries, an average of 5.4 yards per carrying and dragging in seven receptions with 3 touchdowns for 47 yards with the misfortune of season-ending injury.

He also posted on his social media with brief thanking and appreciating captions to all his friends and family, and having no regrets.

“Unfortunately, my 2019 season has come to an end due to an ACL tear in my left knee. Having no regrets as every time, I gave it my all when I was out there. I appreciate all my family and friends reaching out as I always say, “I love y’all.”

Although optimistic, it was a traumatic 2019 season-ending of his career, and his passion for football never let him lean back. Instead, he got his left knee injury surgery successfully and opted for a speedy recovery regularly.

Despite the injury, he was still the leading rusher in BYU, and his hardship for the drafting process seemed to be missed.

NFL Career

Even after the incident and lagging in the final collegiate season after missing the last 3 games, he pulled back in for the preparation of the NFL.

Despite all these medical hardships, he continues to gear himself up to pursue the NFL.

Williams tried out his luck for the spring draft. However, he carries astonishing past performance images and experiences; he was rehabbing for his serious knee injury, which could have been dangerous for his health.

As a result, there was a possibility he could miss the entire pre-draft process.

Eventually, Williams got into the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens as a free agent. Unfortunately, Baltimore Ravens were only the team that offered Williams for a free agent.

Nevertheless, it was a relieving moment for his friends and family as he fulfilled his dreams despite the injury.

Williams is happy about all his life lessons and thankful for what he has in his life despite the circumstances. He thanks BYU for helping him out on and off the field; besides all these, he says he is grateful for the valuable life lessons learned.
