Alonzo Menifield | Early Life
Menifield (fully named Alonzo Theodoro Menifield) was born on October 18, 1987, under Libra’s sign. When at the age of naughty days and sparkle lights, Menifield had the tragic path to rejection and violence.
Sadly, he never gets to know his biological father as he died in the early phase of his adolescence.
Apparently, his mother was an immigrant from Belize who indulged in drugs after his father’s death. However, he wasn’t the only child; he had his older brother, Cecil Menifield.
Altogether, at the age of 14, California Child Protective Services took them away from their mother to keep them in the foster care system.
Indeed, as often described him, it was his lowest point in life, seeing their mother run behind the vans as they were getting carried away.
As a result, his loss of familial support and love resulted in him being full of anger within. After the separation with loneliness creeping, he and his brother ended up in 12 different foster care, one at a time.
Moreover, they didn’t even spend a long time in one place, always having a short limited period.
Rejections and the Consequences
During those periods in foster care, he only faced rejection from the parents to adopt, and that budded more anger to him.
Subsequently, those incidents filled him with desperate anger, which always came out in fights.
For instance, his involvement in fights with the children or the management eventually ended with him being in the juvenile hall pressed with the charges.
Amidst all the violence and rejection, he chose God’s faith to guide him when he was begging Him to help.
After switching to foster care, Menidfield, alongside his brother, was taken in by The Way In, a Hollywood-based shelter.
In fact, this very moment came as the turning point when he met his parent, Godwin Ezenwa.
Actually, Ezenwa was the counselor working in that very foundation, which Menifield always terms as the prison. Initially, his older brother, Cecil, pleaded with Ezenwa to adopt him and his brother.
To elaborate, Ezenwa was an African immigrant who agreed to adopt them when the whole world had left them behind.
“That was Godwin. He made it happen. And I guess I got a feel for what’s normal, and then from there I took advantage of it.”
Although the boys had grown up, they weren’t able to read or write. Thus, attending school for the first time hit differently in many ways.
At first, Menifield attended Canyon High School. That was for the first time; he gained a new sensation of freedom in his life.
Parallel to his studies, Alonzo found his love in football games; thus, he appeared as the linebacker on his team.
Within two years of introduction and phase with his high school, Menifield moved to the NJCAA Glendale Community College (California).
He was also involved in track and field. Overall, with Glendale’s two seasons, Menifield bagged the Honorable Mention All-American and earned a Texas A&M University-Commerce scholarship.
Following it, he entered Division II college, where he majored in Criminal Justice. Within a few years of devotion, he graduated from there with a degree in hand.
Even after graduation, Menifield didn’t give up his football passion and therefore was professionally featured in the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League.

After years of into football, Menifield concluded football wasn’t his real love and shifted to MMA.
After graduation, Menifield also took the weekly jiu-jitsu classes at a local academy. Therewith, Menifield took two years of preparation before finally debuting in the industry.
On November 20, 2015, the kid who used to make the DragonBall Z doodles and kung fu duels made his debut in the professional octagon at heavyweight against Zach Rosol.
The match took at Bellator 146, which marked his successful debut with the TKO in the first round.

Even after bagging the first fight, Alonzo wasn’t given a contract with the UFC; thus, grabbing the second chance, he featured at Dana White’s Contender Series – Season Week 1.
They held the match on June 16, 2018, at The Ultimate Fighter Gym tonight, Nevada, Las Vegas, over Dashaw Boatwright.
