Phelps has a record of 23 Olympic gold medals. He won 8 gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, breaking the form of 7 gold medals set by Mark Spitz in a single Olympic Game in 1972.

His international championship title and world record performance have earned him the World Swimmer of the Year Award six times and The American Swimmer of the Year Award eight times.

It all started in 1987 when she broke world records for freestyle distances of 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1500 meters. The next year, at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, she won three individual gold medals.

In Seoul, Janet won the 400-meter medley and 800 million freestyle gold medals, successfully defending her title four years later in Barcelona.

By the end of Evans’ swimming career, he held a total of seven world records, five Olympic medals, and 45 US National Championships.

8. Ryan Lochte

Then, in 1989, Otto set new world records in major events such as the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 100m backstrokes, and 100m butterfly.

10. Johnny Weissmuller

However, his road to the Olympics was not easy. Despite her amazing talent, Fanny’s swimming club initially refused to let her participate in the 1912 Olympics. However, they eventually changed their attitude and let Fanny leave, as long as she paid for it herself.

Fanny’s career surpassed the competition in 1912. From 1910 to 1918, Dulac held all records for women’s swimming, from the 100-meter freestyle to the one-mile. This is unheard of today!

12. Simone Manuel
