Devin Devorris Hester Sr. is a former American football player who spent 11 seasons (2006-16) in the NFL with the Bears, Falcons, Ravens, and Seahawks.

Hester was the second-round pick (57th overall) of the Chicago Bears in the 2006 NFL draft.

He comes from the same draft year as notable NFL players like Reggie Bush, Antonio Cromartie, Mario Williams, Vince Young, and Jay Cutler.

He was drafted as a cornerback but made an impact as a kick returner and then as a wide receiver.

The return specialist is the first and only player to return the opening kick of a Super Bowl (XLI) for a touchdown.

Considered one of the greatest return specialists, Devin is a two-time NFL punt return yards leader (2006 & 2010) and a two-time  NFL kickoff return yards leader (2013 & 2014).

According to Spotrac, the Miami Hurricanes alum earned $29.266 million in earnings from his NFL career.

He is the oldest of three sons of his parents, Devin and Zingha Hester (nee Walcott). His younger brother (second-born), Dray Hester, aka Ankle Bully, was born on August 30, 2012, which makes him 11 now.

The youngest one, Denali Hester, born on March 10, 2018, is  6 years old as of 2024.

Devin Jr. has an age gap of nearly three years with Dray and eight years with Denali.

He often features his younger brothers & parents on his Instagram.

Hester Jr. is in the class of 2024 from Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Georgia. There, he plays as a wide receiver with jersey number #19. 

Aside from football, he is on the varsity basketball and baseball teams, but the former most got his soul.

Devin, who stands 5 feet 10 inches (1.77 m) & weighs 165 lbs, committed verbally to the Furman University on June 22, 2023. After six months, he signed a letter of intent to play collegiate football with the Furman Paladins on December 20, 2023.

He chose Furman over Wake Forest, Dartmouth, Kent State, Liberty, Appalachian State, Eastern Michigan, and Georgia Southern.

Unlike many NFL players’ sons who have been keenly into football from a young age, Devin Jr. never thought he would find his passion in the sport.

Instead, he ran tracks & field at high school. He competed in the Loch Johnson Invitational, GHSA 4A State Championships, and North Oconee FAT All-Comers Meet.

As a junior, he ran 11.07 for 100 meters and long jumped 20-9.5.

Earlier in interviews, the former Atlanta Falcons player mentioned that his oldest son, Devin Jr., was not very interested in football, but his second son, Dray, was. 

Also, he mentioned that he respected his son’s career path, whichever it may be.

In September 2023, he made an Instagram post stating that his son, Devin, came to him and asked to try football and made 2 sacks and 4 tackles in his first-ever game.
