Devontae Cacok was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 8, 1996. He is the only son of Henry Cacok and Rose Lewis Cacok.
Devontae considers his mother his main source of inspiration, as she taught him humility and hard work while growing up.
While he was still a young kid, his parents migrated to the Georgian state of the USA. Consequently, he spent his childhood in Riverdale, Georgia. He became highly involved in playing soccer as a teenager.
Devontae initially thought of making his career in soccer because he was very good at it. However, he had to give up after injuring his wrist in eighth grade.
After becoming fit, he switched to basketball and joined his high school varsity team.

High School Career
Devontae Cacok attended Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. At first, he struggled to catch up with other boys while playing because they were already well-trained.

However, his practice increased, and he had much better results in his senior year. Cacok averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, he led his team to win a regional title.
College Career
Devontae played for UNC Wilmington as a freshman. Being entirely new at the college, he became nervous and did not score well in his first season.
However, Cacok geared up and played extremely well in his sophomore year. He averaged 12.2 points and 9.8 rebounds in his second season.
In addition, he achieved an extremely high goal percentage this entire season and led the nation in field goal percentage.

Cacok went for the 2019 NBA draft with high hope of getting picked, as his journey throughout his college years was very successful. Unfortunately, he went undrafted, to his disappointment, but the Los Angeles Lakers signed him to play in the 2019 NBA Summer League.
As a two-way contract player, Cacok played in the NBA G League for the South Bay Lakers, the affiliate club of the Lakers. Unfortunately, after appearing in a few matches, he suffered a foot injury and had to be out of the court for many weeks.
On August 13, he made his NBA debut for the Lakers against the Sacramento Kings, one of his happiest moments.
