Jones (fully named Dwayne Clinton Jones) was born on June 9, 1983, under Gemini’s star sign. He was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, and later grew up in Chester, Pennsylvania.

He is a son of a construction worker from just outside Philadelphia.

Jones commenced taking basketball on a deep level during his high school tenure, and many praised him for his skillset. Some stated that he could make it to the Division III ball if he worked on it.

Dwayne earned himself a scholarship offer to Saint Joseph’s University following that phase. This school provided him minimum exposure as it wouldn’t appear much on national television. 

However, by 2004, he had become an integral part of the undefeated Saint Joseph’s team. Right then, Jones also entered the NCAA tournament as a No. 1 seed.

With several player titles and awards on the way, Jones also had his 418 rebounds as the second-best single-season mark in school history.

The Professional Arena

After coming out of St. Joe’s, Jones entered the 2005 NBA Draft, where he went undrafted. Then, the Minnesota Timberwolves signed him as an undrafted rookie free agent in the same year. 

Not long after, they assigned him to the NBA Development League’s Florida Flame. With 26 game appearances, they traded him to the Boston Celtics a year later. 

After fourteen games, the team traded him to the Cleveland Cavaliers in October 2006.

The Cavaliers then assigned Jones to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds and gave him his first entire NBA season. 

Likewise, Jones played for teams such as New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Charlotte Bobcats, and Iowa Energy in the following seasons. Later, in 2009, he joined the Serbian club Crvena Zvezda. 

However, the Serbian club let him go after stating that his problems did not let him focus professionally. 

Until his final days in the arena, Dwayne Jones had flown to multiple countries and teams to play professionally.
