Nonetheless, he was the one who brought Ronda Rousey to prominence as the first UFC women’s bantamweight champion. Sadly, Edmond was also accused of ending her career in an unfortunate manner.

But as per the saying, “If it matters, it creates controversies” and so did Edmond.

Edmond Tarverdyan | Early Life & Childhood

Coach Edmond Tarverdyan is a martial artist and martial arts instructor from the United States. He was born in Glendale, California on December 15, 1981.

Sadly, Tarverdyan hasn’t revealed anything about his childhood, school, or family to the media. Hence, we have no information on his parents, siblings, and how his childhood was.

He only became well-known in the media as a result of his profession.

Without a doubt, his fame is linked to his coaching career and the successful students he was able to bring up who are making headlines in the media.

Edmond Tarverdyan | Career

Tarverdyan began his professional career as a mixed martial arts fighter in LOP, where he won all of his matches in 2012. He has had a 90 percent success rate as a martial arts fighter.

Likewise, Tarverdyan began coaching his own students shortly after his official retirement from martial arts as a fighter.

Unfortunately, Edmond is the most criticized and belittled coach in the history of mixed martial arts.

Edmond Tarverdyan and Ronda Rousey

As we mentioned above, Edmond is famous for his pupil, Ronda Rousey, one of the biggest names in the MMA world.

Likewise, Ronda has a judo background, whereas Edmond has a kickboxing background. He should have devised game plans for Ronda that used her strengths, but instead he chose to devise ones that exploited his.

Tarverdyan’s training for Rousey prior to the Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes fights earned him scathing reviews due to the dismissive manner in which he dismissed his tactics.

Moreover, Edmond has worked with Ronda Rousey at Glendale Fight Club since 2010.

Ronda’s first amateur MMA victory in 23 seconds brought him to work more closely with her in August 2010.

Ronda lost the UFC 193 Main Event to Holly Holm in Melbourne, Australia on November 15, 2015. “It’s the most disappointing thing of my life,” Edmond said after being criticized for coaching Ronda.

Ronda’s mother criticized Edmond

Ann Maria De Mars, mother of Ronda said that Edmond is a horrible trainer. She said, “Edmond hit the jackpot by bringing Ronda to his gym.”

Not only that but during a match, Edmond shouted at his fighter, “Head nod.” Trolls flooded social media after the UFC released a video showing Edmond’s head moving. His advice has since become a running gag among the fans.

Moreover, Edmond is widely regarded as the sport’s most reviled coach because of his inability to design winning, or even rational, game plans for Ronda.

Other

Edmond also coached Edmen Shahbazyan and he is currently ranked 11th in the UFC middleweight rankings as of September 2020.

Similarly, Edmond has coached other fighters in the MMA. Some claimed he even destroyed the careers of few trainees as well.

Tarverdyan was the coach of Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, and Travis Browne, all of who are very successful fighters now.

Edmond Tarverdyan | Wife, Kids, and Rumors

Edmond was rumored to be dating Ronda Rousey, but this was proven completely false when he married Diana Avetisyan.

Diana and Edmond were dating prior to their marriage, which the general public was unaware of. It was also revealed that they only married after dating for almost two years.

Children

Diana and Edmond together have two children named Ella Tarverdyan and Roman Tarverdyan.

Ella Tarverdyan is the older daughter who is seven years old whereas, on the other hand, Roman Tarverdyan is the younger son who is four years old.

Roman, Edmond’s son loves soccer; he is currently playing at LAUFA.

Whereas Ella, Edmond’s daughter is a designer and runs a shoe brand of her own.

Edmond Tarverdyan | Controversies

Withdrawal of License

Edmond Tarverdyan is the most criticized and belittled coach in the history of mixed martial arts. It is as if he is entirely blind to things that appear obvious to even casual MMA fans themselves.

Edmond Tarverdyan’s corner license was withdrawn by the California Athletic Commission in January 2016 because Tarverdyan had falsely filled out his application for his ‘seconds’ license in Boston, failing to reveal his criminal history.

If you ask what criminal past he has?!

Charges

In 2010, he was charged with two charges of criminal identity theft and resisted arrest. According to public records, Tarverdyan was arrested in December 2010 on two counts of felony identity theft and one count of misdemeanor resisting arrest.

The identity theft counts were reduced to misdemeanors, and Tarverdyan ultimately pleaded no contest to all three offenses. In 2011 the coach was convicted to a one day prison sentence on the basis of court records, with a credit of one day as well as three years’ probation and 30 days of community service and on top of that he was fined 610 dollars as well.

Edmond Tarverdyan| Salary and Net Worth

His salary was never made public but whenever he was asked about how much he earned from training, he once responded “it was in the six-figure mark”

His Instagram profile even shows that he owns a luxury car but much detail about it isn’t mentioned.

Talking about his net worth;
ONE OF THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL COACHES, EDMOND TARVERDYAN HAS A NET WORTH OF $2 MILLION.

EDMOND TARVERDYAN | BANKRUPTCY

Edmond Tarverdyan filed for bankruptcy just before Rousey’s key title battle against Holly Holm in November 2015. Tarverdyan claimed he was not the owner of Glendale Fighting Club and had only $3K in assets while owing banks and creditors across the country $700,000.

At the same time, Edmond claimed he had no recent earnings, despite being the coach of the reigning women’s bantamweight champion and the highest-earning female fighter in history.

Additionally, he had over $700,000 in debts and reported he had no income whatsoever to speak of. So, if Ronda wasn’t paying him he still was getting more than he is worth.
Obviously, when you are an MMA and boxing instructor and you are coaching one of the most successful fighters in business history and are unable to take advantage of that, you are awful about money.

Nevertheless, Edmond’s debts were as follows:

Chapter 7 bankruptcy is designed for “debtors in financial difficulty who do not have the ability to pay their existing debts.” Among his debts, Tarverdyan lists $136,925 owed to Bank of America, $117,714 to Barclays Bank Delaware, $194,252 to Citibank, $8,836 to Citibank Nk, $163,693 to Citibank South Dakota, $6,411 to Discover, $8,496 to Discover Bank, $11,953 to Glendale Memorial Hospital, $7,294 to HSBC Bank, $22,000 to HSBC Bank Nevada N.A., and $9,817 to Luis Samkow.

A settlement for his bankruptcy case in 2017 settled for $160,000 which also saved him from losing his membership at Glendale Fight Club.

What does coach Edmond Tarverdyan plan to do after Ronda Rousey’s retirement?

Firstly, Edmond Tarverdyan has been with Ronda Rousey since the beginning and secondly, he has developed a special bond with her through the years.

As a result, he has no doubt in his mind that they will be next to each other and know each other for the rest of their lives because Ronda has done something extraordinary, and Edmond has assisted and stood behind her.

They have done it with integrity and honesty, and they have worked hard to do it. That implies that they could stay close and pure and honest and everything else in the world and for sure have a fantastic friendship and constantly talk about these great occasions after she retires.

How many careers did Edmond Tarverdyan destroy?

There are six people who had their lives turned upside down by Edmond;
Jessamyn Duke, Marina “The supernova From Moldova” Shafir, Travis Browne, Ronda Rouse, and Shayna Baszler.

He was unable to convert teaching Ronda Rousey into a viable venture. His flaws as a businessman greatly outnumber his flaws as a coach.
