Kent Hrbek, a retired American Major League Baseball first baseman, divorced his wife Jeanie Hrbek after more than 30 years of marriage.

Hrbek’s divorce came as a surprise to him. He has moved on and now has a girlfriend named Kristen Thoen.

Interestingly, when they first met, Kristen had no idea Kent was a famous baseball player.

Kent Alan Hrbek, affectionately known as “Herbie,” had an impressive career as a first baseman in American Major League Baseball.

He was born on May 21, 1960, and attended Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Hrbek was drafted in the 17th round of the 1978 Major League Baseball draft by his hometown team, the Minnesota Twins.

He played for the Twins for his 14-year baseball career from 1981 to 1994.

In an exhibition game against the Phillies on April 3, 1982, Hrbek made history by hitting the first home run in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. It was a momentous achievement for his team.

Former Twins pitcher Jim Kaat considered Hrbek the best defensive first baseman ever.

Moreover, he was an All-Star in 1982 and played a vital role in the Twins’ World Series victories in 1987 and 1991.

Hrbek retired after the 1994 players’ strike. He did so due to frequent injuries and a desire to spend more time with family in Bloomington, Minnesota.

He endorses Carrier Heating and Air Conditioning equipment and has baseball fields named after him in Bloomington.

Hrbek lost his father to ALS in 1982, and since then, he has been an advocate for raising awareness and funds for ALS research.

He hosts an annual charity golf tournament and participates in the Black Woods Blizzard Tour, a snowmobile excursion to raise funds for ALS research.

Hrbek was awarded the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award in 1991 for his dedication to fighting the disease.
