Making the 12 victories, Ryota fought for the unoccupied WBA (Regular) opposite Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (Nam) on May 27, 2017.

Unfortunately, Ryota failed to secure his WBA middleweight world title after losing to Rob Brant in Las Vegas on October 20, 2018.

As a result of the many-round decision, Murata ranked third in the WBA and eleventh by the IBF in 2018.
