For over 26 years, Kevin worked for the Los Angeles sanitation department, waking up at 3:45 a.m. daily to haul waste.
Despite Richard’s success and financial ability to support him, Kevin remained determined to continue working until retirement.
“Why should my son have to foot everything?” Kevin once said he refused to burden his son with unnecessary responsibilities.
His determination is even more remarkable, given the difficulties he faced in his youth.
At 14, Kevin lost an eye in a go-kart explosion, and at 18, he survived two gunshot wounds to the chest.
