In 2009, Amy was diagnosed with deadly breast cancer. By the middle of 2009, she had begun her cancer treatment.

Following her treatment, she moved to Houston, Texas, for further medication and therapy.

In the late May of 2009, Amy’s diagnosis became public; Phil put a hold on his golf career for a moment there.

He opted out from defending his title the following weekend.

Mickelson wrote that there is an excellent team of doctors working on improving Amy’s condition. “We caught this early,” wrote Phil.

Phil also wrote that the couple is waiting for the test results to guide them in the best possible direction.
