Bryn Forbes is an America-based professional basketball player playing both guard positions for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Bryn Forbes | Family, High School & Universities

Forbes was born to his Father, Brandon Forbes, and mother, Sue Forbes, on 23rd July of the year 1993 in Michigan state capital Lansing, a National Historic Landmark. He is the younger one among his sibling, Erin W. Warmels.

At 33, Erin Warmels died after a long battle with Lyme disease in 2016. She was an artist who had completed her design degree at Kendall School of Arts and Design.

Bryn’s life was wasted due to matches, hospital visits, and taking care of the younger son. And, to top that, his only sister died. So it was a hard year for him.

High School Career

Even as a high schooler, Forbes was so mature for the game helping his team win at the 2011 and 2012 Class B State Championships.

Having an average of 13.6 points as a junior and 19.0 points, 5.0 rebound, and 3.0 assists as a senior in Sexton High gave him the title of Lansing State Journal Dream Team member.

Though he was not the first choice for basketball teams, according to ESPN, he was listed as the third-best recruit for 2012 at Cleveland State.

Forbes was called the 92nd best shooting guard as per ESPN all over the USA, while in Michigan, he was the 11th best in the state.

College Career

Freshman Year (2012-13)

The year was one of his best, starting with an average of 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists from Cleveland State.

He scored his season-high 24 points while leading double figures every 24 games.

Sophomore Year (2013-14)

Another successful year got Bryn the second-team NABC All-District 12 and second-Team All-Horizon League honors. Out of 32 games that season, he scored in double digits in 26 games.

Creating new heights for his team led Cleveland to rank sixth in the Horizon League. He managed to be the other person in the league in three-point field goals made (2.5 pg) after NCAA all-time leading three-point shooter Travis Bader.

Junior Year (2014-15)

After playing for Cleaveland State for over two years, he desired to return to his home in Michigan. Also another reason is that Forbes wanted to be near his family to take care of his youngest boy and visit his ill sister.

Already having an attractive profile after the seasons, he played in Cleaveland State, which created an easier way for him to join the team.

The Michigan University team had lost more guards that year, leaving them vulnerable. His sharpshooting helped the team rebound from the setback.

Forbes appeared in 39 games, with an average of 8.5 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in the first 24 games.

He created back-to-back records for himself with highs and lows while he played with Eastern Michigans, Rutgers, Notre Dame, and Nebraska, and he also had his career-best four assists.

Senior Year (2015-16)

As for their senior year, he had new surprises waiting for him. Forbes was named USBWA All-District V 1st Team, Media All-Big Ten 2nd Team, Coaches All-Big Ten 2nd Team, and PIT All-Tournament Team. 

From being chosen for a Three-Point Contest to leading the team to win over Rutgers at 97-66, it opened various opportunities for him. He was one of the USA’s top three-point shooters, making nearly 50%.

San Antonio Spurs (2016-2020)

On July 14, 2016, after going undrafted for the 2016 NBA Summer League, Forbes joined the Spurs. At one of the NBA draft pre-workout, he made 77-out-of-100 three-pointers which made a great impression on his coach.

The highlighting factor was when he scored career-high 27 points to lead the Spur’s victory at 108-82 win. During the 2017 season, he received All-NBA Summer League Second Teams honors for his effort in NBA Summer League.

He was one of the three NBA undrafted players under 6’4″ to start a game in Spurs history. His first career win was over with Chicago Bulls, where he made 13 points in a 133-94 win.

In 2018, he re-signed with the Spurs, which greatly impacted his career. It was the year when he became the Spur’s second point guard to score in double figures in each of his first four games since Maurice Cheeks in 1989.

Another memorable point was scoring his first double-double with a season-high 24 points and career-based 11-rebounds.

He made 1000 points in 2019, with 250-career 3-pointers in the first three seasons with the Spurs team, along with Neal and Davis Bertans in the team history. 

Milwaukee Bucks (2020-2021)

After playing with the Spurs for almost four years, he also decided to explore other teams. So, on November 26, 2020, he signed a two-year contract while the second year was the player’s choice with Milwaukee Bucks.

Forbes outshined the Miami Heat star- Jimmy Butler, by outscoring him during the season.

That season he swiped up the NBA 2021 Finals trophy against Phoenix Suns, becoming an NBA Champion and having the award with his team.

Back to San Antonio (2021-present)

Forbes returned to his second home to start the 2021 season. The Spurs signed him in August 2021. He scored 16 points against his old team in October and played well, scoring double-digits.

As of 2022, he has played five games and seems to be in bad form. However, he is expected to perform well in the upcoming games.
