Kyle Shanahan | Early Life and Education

Shanahan (fully named Kyle Michael Shanahan) was born on December 14, 1979, under the star sign of Sagittarius. Well, he is one of the only two kids his mother, Peggy Shanahan, and father, Mike Shanahan has.

His father, Mike, used to be a coach at the University of Minnesota, while his mother used to be a housewife. As for his siblings, he has a sister named Krystal Shanahan. 

Well, Kyle spent his first few years in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before moving to Saratoga. However, he attended Saratoga High School in Saratoga, California, back in 1994.

During that time, Kyle’s father used to work as an offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. 

Later, as his father shifted to work for the Denver Broncos, Kyle studied at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Kyle gained a scholarship offer to study at Carl Franks of Duke University following his high school days. 

Initially, Kyle accepted the offer; however, he later transferred to the University of Texas at Austin as a redshirt freshman.

Kyle gained the love and passion for football from an early day, thanks to his father, Mike! As he grew up playing football, his father taught him plenty of skills. Hence, he ended up playing for his school team to college. 

After moving to the University of Texas, Kyle played as a wide receiver on the ‘Texas Longhorns Football Program.’ During his university days as a player, Kyle maintained 14 passes for 127 yards.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After a year coaching career in college, Kyle Shanahan commenced coaching in the NFL team, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The young athlete initially worked under the supervision of the head coach, Jon Gruden, as an offensive quality control coach assistant.

But the two couldn’t accomplish much during their tenure with the team, and indeed, this bought several criticisms and comments for them. So, the team fired Kyle along with his father and the rest of the mates in the end. 

Cleveland Browns

Nearly a year later, in 2014, the Cleveland Browns hired Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator. However, his days didn’t last long with the team.

Atlanta Falcons

After ten days of his resignation from the Cleveland Browns, the Atlanta Falcons hired Kyle as their new offensive coordinator on January 18 of 2015. Throughout his journey with the Falcons, Kyle proved himself as one o the best coach. 

In the season 2016, he bagged the title of the NFL Assistant Coach of the Year. 

San Francisco 49ers

After two years career with the Falcons, the San Francisco 49ers hired Kyle as their head coach on February 6, 2017. Right after he joined the team, he bought success in their first preseason game, followed by their first regular-season game. 

Hence, Kyle ended his first season with the team on five winning streaks but with six wins out of seven games they played.

In 2018, he led the team for only four wins as their quarterback Garoppolo struggled with immense injury.
