Maria Sharapova is a retired professional tennis player who is also the first Russian woman to win Wimbledon and gained a silver medal in the London Olympics of 2012. She was born in Russia but went to the United States at her young age and started training to boost her career.
Later, she turned to professional as a teen and became famous after winning the 2004 Wimbledon women’s singles title. Similarly, she has also become the 10th woman to earn a career in Grand Slam after winning the French Open in 2012. In 2017, she won her final WTA title and announced the retirement from tennis in February 2020.
