With the news of Miriam Adelson’s purchase of the Dallas Mavericks majority stake, queries about her family- her children and husband have been on the rise.

Adelson, the widow of the Las Vegas Sands founder Sheldon Adelson, is a billionaire.

Considered the 5th richest woman in America and #44 in the world according to Forbes, Miriam has a net worth of $32.8 billion net worth as of November 2023.

A one-time divorcee, she welcomed two kids with her first husband and later became the mother of five adopted children with her now-late beau, Sheldon.

Besides being the widow of a businessman, Miriam Adelson (née Farbstein), an American-Israeli physical who specializes in treating patients with addictions.

After her husband Sheldon’s demise in 2021, she became the owner of Las Vegas Sands Corp., an American casino and resort company.

Moreover, she has taken over the ownership of her beau-owned Israeli daily newspaper Israel Hayom.

In late November 2023, Mrs. Adleson made highlights after reports of buying the majority stake from Mark Cuban of the NBA franchise, Dallas Mavericks came up.

While together, she and her second husband Sheldon didn’t welcome any biological children but adopted two kids, both sons: Adam (b. 1997) and Matan (b. 1999).

Moreover, from her spouse’s former marriage, she became a stepmother of three children: Mitchell, Gary, and Shelley (all of whom also also adopted).

As for herself, she welcomed two daughters: Yasmin Lukatz and Sivan Dumont, from her marriage with Ariel Ochshorn.

So in total, Miriam became the mother of seven children (including her adopted son Mitchell who has passed away).

All of her kids are now grown-ups and from their respective relationships, she is a grandmom of 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Adelson’s second-born daughter, Sivan, has been married to attorney Patrick Dumont since 2009.

While Sivan handles the daily newspaper Israel Hayom, her husband, Patrick serves as the Beforet and COO of Las Vegas Sands Corp (January 2021).

Prior to this role, Mr. Dumont was the CFO at LVS in March 2016, having served in senior strategy, operating, and finance positions after joining the company in 2010.

The other daughter, Shelley Adelson, was in a marital relationship with Richard Heller, a businessman. However, they divorced later.

Her former husband worked as president of the Sands Expo & Convention Center, from 1989 to the mid-2000s.

Miriam’s late husband, Sheldon’s adopted son, Mitchell, died on September 6, 2005, at 45, due to a drug overdose. He was born on August 28, 1957, in Brookline, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.

Mitchell was a retired owner of an automobile dealership in Massachusetts.

As reported, Adelson’s other son, Gary, is also suffering from drug addiction issues similar to his late brother.

The Las Vegas Sands mogul’s son Adam graduated in 2019 from the University of South Carolina. In January 2020, he caught the media eye after spending a staggering $6.5 million in an LA bachelor pad.

Her other son, Matan, made a business move after buying a basketball club Hapoel Jerusalem of the Israeli Basketball Premier League.

As reported, he led an ownership group that paid $20 million for a 90% stake in the club.

On November 28, 2023, the NBA & business world got a buzz after the Mavericks owner Mark Cuban agreed to sell the majority stake of the NBA franchise.

The Las Vegas Sands founder late Sheldon Adelson’s widow, Miriam, and her family will take the majority of the holdings, for a valuation range of $3.5 billion.

According to the SEC filing, the LVS Corp stated that Mrs, Adelson selling $2 billion worth of stock (10% k) in the company, to buy the NBA team along with her own cash. 

However, according to the NBA’s board of governors, Cuban will retain an ownership stake and maintain control over basketball operations.

He bought the Mavericks on January 14, 2000, for $285 million, with a team value of $4.5 billion in October 2023, according to Forbes.
