College Career

When Jackson arrived at Boston College, he joined a team that already had stars like Tyrese Rice and Rakim Sanders on the roster.

The Eagles made the NCAA Tournament in Jackson’s freshman season, and he was used as an explosive weapon off the bench.

After Rice’s departure, Jackson stepped into a starting role in his second season, but the Eagles were unable to return to the NCAA Tournament.

He led the Eagles to score 18.2 points per game as a junior in 2010–11, leading them to the National Invitation Tournament.

However, despite being the number 3 point guard on the Oklahoma City Thunder’s deep rankings in the 2011-12 season, the talented player was only given limited playing time in his rather uneventful rookie year.

As he gained more playing time in the following seasons, his performance steadily improved.

Jackson’s most productive season with the Thunder was the 2013-14 regular season, when he averaged 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and a career-high 1.1 steals per game on 80 missions.

Injury

Reggie Jackson’s stock was at an all-time low when he signed a buyout deal with the Clippers at the 2020 trade deadline.

In his final seasons with the Pistons, he battled a variety of injuries, and after an uneven 2020 postseason, he was only able to land a minimum-wage deal with the Clippers in free agency.

Jackson received platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections on October 10, 2016, to treat left knee tendinosis and a right thumb ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) sprain. He was then ruled out for the next six to eight weeks.

He made his season start for the Pistons on December 4, scoring 18 points in 23 minutes against the Orlando Magic after missing the first 21 games of the 2016–17 season.

The Clippers stuck with Jackson despite a crowded backcourt and inconsistent play. They started him for the majority of the season and relied on him to create shots in crucial situations.

Controversy: Blamed Referee for Losing Game

The Toronto Raptors recently defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in a close game, 103-100. There’s no denying that this was a disappointing loss for the team, as they fell to 36-36, right around.500.

Reggie Jackson went after Natalie Sago, the referee, claiming that the “best player made a difference” and that “Natalie played amazing.” Reggie is clearly implying that the refereeing played a role in the game’s outcome.

When players criticize referees, they are usually fined. It remains to be seen whether Reggie will face a similar sanction from the league in the future.

Reggie will almost certainly face a fine based on how the league handles official criticism. Moreover, he was also previously reported to blame the referee for the game’s outcome.

Being a referee is obviously difficult, but hopefully, we will see some improvement in officiating in the future, as there is always room for improvement.

Although calls usually even out over the course of a game, Reggie Jackson was clearly dissatisfied with the Clippers’ officiating against the Raptors.
