College Career 

Freshman Season

Todd began his freshman season while representing Georgia as a backup for redshirt sophomore player Ken Malcome.

During his first game against the Buffalo Bulls, Gurley recorded 100 yards on eight carries, including two rushing touchdowns.

Additionally, Todd took over as the starter during the second game of the season against S.E.C. East opponent Missouri with 65 yards rushing at ten carries during a 41–20 victory. 

During the game against Georgia Southern, Todd became the second true freshman in Georgia’s history to record 1,000 yards rush, and the only other player was Herschel Walker in 1980.

Similarly, during the regular-season finale against Georgia Tech, Todd recorded 12 carries for 97 rushing yards with two rushing touchdowns in the 42–10 victory.

Matt was selected as the 10th overall pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2015 N.F.L. Draft during the first round. Todd was the highest-drafted running back out of the University of Georgia since Tim Worley in 1989.
