College Career 

Freshman Season

Todd began his freshman season while representing Georgia as a backup for redshirt sophomore player Ken Malcome.

During his first game against the Buffalo Bulls, Gurley recorded 100 yards on eight carries, including two rushing touchdowns.

Additionally, Todd took over as the starter during the second game of the season against SEC East opponent Missouri with 65 yards rushing at ten carries during a 41–20 victory. 

During the game against Georgia Southern, Todd became the second true freshman in Georgia’s history to record 1,000 yards rush, and the only other player was Herschel Walker in 1980.

After his sophomore season, the Associated Press named Todd the Second-Team All-SEC.

Junior Season

Furthermore, during the season opener against Clemson on August 30, 2014, Todd rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns with 15 carry to go, including a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown in the 45–21 victory.

On October 9, 2014, the University of Georgia indefinitely suspended Todd due to an alleged violation of NCAA rules.

St. Louis / Los Angeles Rams

Matt was selected as the 10th overall pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft during the first round. Todd was the highest-drafted running back out of the University of Georgia since Tim Worley in 1989.

Todd’s rehabilitation of the injury sustained during his last collegiate game went ahead of schedule.

During the team’s preseason, he did not play and practiced without wearing pads. Shortly after, Todd was medically cleared for play by St. Louis medical team.

Todd scored the Rams’ first touchdown of the season, going 19 yards to the end zone while playing against the Oakland Raiders during Week 1 on Monday Night Football.
