10. Lance Stephenson

Amongst all the recent NBA signings, Lance Stephenson back to the Packers was the least expected one. This is Stephenson’s third stint with the team that drafted him.

Indiana selected him with the 40th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft. However, from the very first game, he got the reputation of an annoying player.

He used to be all over the player while defending. He used to medal with their playstyle to throw them off their game.

Lance was very successful in doing this. Therefore, he was a fan favorite in home games, whereas the rest of the league and fans hated his guts.

His best annoying game was always up against LeBron. Both the players hated each other; their playoff brawls were iconic ones.

It was epic to see the two put aside their differences and play alongside in the 2018-19 Lakers roster.

Further, he went overseas to play after the season and then returned to the NBA G League. Consequently, he signed a 10-day contract with the Hawks, which didn’t get well.

As a result, he signed another 10-day contract with the Pacers and is now with the team for full time.

9. DeMarcus Cousins

It has been very long since the dominating DeMarcus Cousins has been in a good position. Quite recently, the Milwaukee Bucks waived him after playing seventeen games.

The athlete averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists during the game. Unfortunately, this is not his best performance, as he used to wreak havoc during his prime.

Nonetheless, after his departure to the Golden State Warriors, injuries followed him everywhere. First, in his final year with the Pelicans, he ruptured his left Achilles tendon.

Second, he suffered a torn left quadriceps injury during Game 2 with the Warriors. Similarly, he tore his left ACL in a practice game, leading his season to end with the Lakers.

Consequently, the Huston Rockets signed him after his time with the Lakers, who waived him later. Then he signed a ten-day contract with the Clippers, which also saw a dead end.

However, with the Bucks, the signing looked promising. The Bucks were more than excited to have him on the roster.

Nevertheless, his performance didn’t help him, which resulted in the Bucks waving him. Likewise, he came to a ten-day contract with the Nuggets at the end of January.

After completing his contract, the Nuggets offered him a contract that signed him for the remainder of the season.

8. Caris LeVert

It was unlikely to image LeVert playing outside of the Brooklyn Nets. Instead, he was going to be their future star.

However, with the current Nets team built, the need for a future star was almost to none. Therefore, the Nets traded him to the Pacers to bring Harden in a three-team deal.

Also, due to the trade, doctor’s discovered a small mass on his left kidney as he got his MRI. As a result, LeVert feels very lucky to have had that trade which saved his life.

Analysts projected Caris to have a long-term contract with the team. He was a young point guard with great scoring abilities.

However, the Pacers didn’t see him as a good fit in the process of rebuilding. Hence, they traded him to the Cavaliers.

This is a great pick-up for the most promising young rosters in the Eastern Conference, the Cavaliers. They had tones of great young players and veteran players.

Further, the addition of LeVert increases their offensive game. Also, if everything turns out to be right, they might just be able to make a deep playoff run.

Overall, this signing is one of his season’s best recent NBA signings.

7. Tyrese Haliburton

Talking about some major headlines, the Haliburton recent NBA signings wins it all. Haliburton was a solid young player for the Kings.

Many had projected him to be the best next megastar for the Kings in the coming years. However, this dream fell short as the Kings traded him to the Indiana Pacers.

The trade came to be a major surprise. Trade rumors for Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson were going on for the Kings.

But no one excepted Tyrese to be a part of it. The trade sends Tyrese, Buddy Hield, and Tristan Thompson to the Pacers for Justin HolidayDomantas SabonisJeremy Lamb, and a 2027 second-round pick.

This trade doesn’t change a needle for the Kings as Sabonis is a great player. However, he is a complementary star who is better paired with an elite player.

Jeremy and Justin both have their contract expiring in the coming years. Therefore, that would be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Besides that, for the Pacers, it’s a brilliant trade. It is great news for a team rebuilding to pull off such an impressive trade.

The Pacers have traded most of their star player. Hence, to add a star player via trade is very impressive. Also, they got Hield, who is an excellent three-point shooter.

6. P.J. Dozier

This year’s trade deadline was very chaotic. Multiple teams are trading, waving, and signing free agents. But, from all the recent NBA signings, the shocking one was the Dozier trade.

PJ Dozier is a solid guard that showed his talent during the playoffs of the Denver Nuggets. He was a reserve for the Nuggets, who impressed plenty during crunch times.

He started with the G League team of the Nuggets, “Windy City Bulls.” He performed well with the team and scored 32 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds.

As a result, Nuggets converted his two-way contract into a multi-year NBA contract. However, he tore his left ACL through the start of the 2021 season.

This injury led his season to end. Nevertheless, Dozier was sure he wouldn’t be traded as he was a great asset.

Little did he know, the Nuggets were planning on doing so. As a result, Denver traded him to the Boston Celtics in a three-team trade involving the San Antonio Spurs.

The Nuggets send PJ Dozier and Bol Bol to the Boston Celtics. However, the Celtics again traded the two to the Orlando Magic.

The Magic then signed Bol Bol but waived Dozier. As of now, he is working to get back to the NBA and helping a team get to the NBA Championships.

5. Joe Ingles

Out of all the recent NBA signings, the trade of Joe Ingles to the Portland Trail Blazers made some major headlines. Many teams eyed Ingles in the past.

However, he had made his intention of playing with the Jazz clear. Nevertheless, with Jazz failing to make a successful playoff run, Ingles wanted to opt out of his contract.

Ingles just had a final year in his contract with Utah. Similarly, he had refused to resign from the team, saying that he would want to help some other serious contending team.

Hence, Utah had to act quickly. Either they had to trade Joe for some assets, or he would have walked away, leading the Jazz to be empty-handed.

Various teams were in serious negotiation. However, none of the packages made sense to the Jazz.

Following the trade rumors, Doctors diagnosed Ingles with a torn left ACL. As a result, this would end his season, which made the trade negotiation even harder.

In the end, the Jazz had to focus on bettering their roster. They needed enough cap space to sign some major athletes in the upcoming offseason.

Hence, they agreed on a trade with the Blazers that sent Ingels, Elijah Hughes, and a 2022 second-round pick for Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

This is a great trade for the Blazers, who just traded their second-best scorer CJ McCollum. Further, Joe would be a perfect fit for the Lillard-led Portland Trail Blazers.

4. Kristaps Porzingis

Amongst all the recent NBA signings, the departure of Porzingis from the Mavericks was most anticipated. He was not working with the team as his prime days might be gone.

The Knicks drafted Porzingis in the 2015 draft with the 4th overall pick. Many fans were devastated as they didn’t know what to expect from a tall skinny guy.

However, Kristaps quickly changed the narrative with his high-scoring games. Within two years with the team, he had become their leading scorer by averaging 22.7 points.

Despite his great scoring game, he was not happy with the Knicks as they were a bad team. Therefore, after three seasons with the team, he demanded a trade.

Knicks matched his trade request by trading him to the Dallas Mavericks. The knicks were quick in trading him because he was going through a season-ending ACL injury.

The Mavericks took the risk of trading for him because they had drafted a young rising star Luka Dončić. Hence, Porzingis was the perfect piece for Dallas to trade for.

However, from the very first season, it was clear that Kristaps didn’t have the same explosiveness as he used to.

Still, the Mavericks waited for him to dial into his old self. Little did they know that they were making the wrong decision doing this.

As a result, after playing two full seasons with Dallas, the team decided to trade him. Kristaps was traded to the Washington Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans.

3. Montrezl Harrell

The acquisition of Montrezl Harrell for Charlotte might just be one of the best recent NBA signings of this season. Harrell was a part of the young-core Washington Wizards.

Montrezl was averaging 14.1 points per game with the Wizards. He was the backup center who occasionally played the power forward position.

Since his height is 6ft 7inches, he is a little small compared to other centers in the league. However, his explosive gameplay makes up for his downside in height.

His career-best came with the Clippers, averaging about 18.6 pts. Further, due to his great performance, NBA awarded him with the most improved player award.

However, things quickly came rolling down for Harrell as he joined the Lakers. The chemistry for the Lakers was not there that season.

Despite his explosiveness, the team couldn’t perform as they should have. Moreover, Harrell saw plenty of playing time during the regular season with the Laker.

Nevertheless, his playing time was cut off during the playoffs against the Suns. Coach Vogel said he was playing the players that were the best match-up against the Suns.

This indicated Montrezl’s departure from the roster. As a result, he, along with Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, was traded to the Wizards in the offseason.

Overall, this trade allows the center to have a fresh start. Likewise, the Hornets also receive an explosive center for the roster, which is a great pick.

2. CJ McCollum

Amongst the recent NBA signings, the one that made a lot of noise is McCollum signing with the Pelicans.

CJ has been a prolific scorer behind Damian Lillard for the Portland Trail Blazers. He played nine seasons with the Blazers and had full intentions to play more seasons with the team.

However, after multiple failed playoff runs, Portland had to make a tough decision on moving forward. The decision ended in trading their second-best scores in the team.

Therefore, the trade ended an era for the pair of two backcourt scorers of CJ and Lillard. Further, he was traded to the Pelicans along with Larry Nance Jr. and Tony Snell.

Similarly, the Pelicans offered Josh Hart, Tomas Satoransky, Nickleil Alexander-Walker, Didi Louzada, 2022 protected first-round pick, and two second-round picks.

The Blazers received way less than what they gave. Nonetheless, their goal of recreating around Lillard will be fulfilled as they have enough cap space for the offseasons.

Likewise, McCollum is a great veteran player around many youngsters for the Pelicans.

Now they have four elite scores in the team in Devonte Graham, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and Cj himself.

1. James Harden

This comes as a surprise to anyone. The Nets traded Harden to the 76ers, who had just got to Brooklyn a year ago.

Nets had high hopes for the big 3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. However, the injuries of Irving and Harden downplayed their previous season.

Further, with multiple internal issues, Harden wanted out of Brooklyn. His prime target was the 76ers, as he wanted to pair up with “The Process” Joel Embiid.

Luckily, Philadelphia point guard Ben Simmons had his issues with his team. His disappointing 2020-21 playoff performance made fans furious and booed him entirely.

This affected Simmons, who demanded trades from the 76ers from the offseason. Due to his request, he didn’t play any game since the start of this season.

Philadelphia tried to get the best deal for Ben but failed during the offseason. Nevertheless, since Harden got into the mix, 76ers had been in strong pursuit.

As a result, both the teams agreed to trade Harden Paul Millsap for Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round draft picks before the trade deadline.

All the parties seem to be happy with this trade. Now Simmons can finally play his first game this season. Likewise, with the addition of Seth, the Nets have a great roster.

Notably, Harden has already made the 76ers his home as he just had his 68th career triple-double in his second game with the team.

Overall this is one of the most exciting top recent NBA signings. Let’s hope things turn out to be for the best for all the parties.
